White fades way to fast, it`s alright for a few minor details, but I wouldn`t want it all to be it.

You can`t get rid of white ink with lasers, so you should be very sure what you do.

Trashy is in. And the more we glamorize thug or trailer park culture, the nastier people will get. trashy piercings, horrid body mods, ugly tattoos, stupid blue and pink hair...etc.

Remember when people tried to better themselves?
Now it`s just easier to lower yourself.

Next they`ll be introducing texture to tattoos. Never liked them.

They remind me of etched glass.
Personally, I find tattoos on a woman a major turn off. But most of these are actually rather nice.

@ Gypsy, I understand what you`re saying, but just because there is a historical precedence in primitive cultures doesn`t make it "classy" today. The same could be said for animal sacrifice or ritual flagellation.

Free country, do what you want, but I still think 1 in a million looks good, the rest are just tacky. Personal opinion, that`s all.

To me these look like tattoos that have been removed but the residual shape still remains on the skin. If your going to have a tat just get one done properly without arsing about with invisibility. Saying that though the white tat on dark skin looks pretty good.

@Gerry101:

I understand your opinion, but do not think that an all-encompassing "tattooing is a low art-form" is entirely accurate.

Tattoos have been utilized in many ways throughout history. In some cultures, the higher the social standing, the more ink and more intricate tattoos someone has. Military units from ancient times until this very day use this permanent body-art as a way to distinguish themselves from other troops and civilians alike.
True, there have been negative connotations, mostly recently, like "tramp stamps" and teardrop tattoos, gang and prison tattoos and the like.
However, to cast the drunken co-ed in the same light as a Celtic tribal chief, or to compare a Yakuza member to a U.S. Marine returning from his third tour in the Gulf is faulty reasoning.

Again, your opinions are your own and they are entirely valid. I`m simply posting a further opinion for you to consider if you so desire.

If you accept the word/phrase "class" to mean `better than what you had` or `better than what you came from` ... how many tattoos are "classy" ? How many people walking around are "classier" because they got inked?

No, tattooing is a low art form. Suitable because "trash" is quote in end-quote at the moment. It used to be we bettered ourselves for profit and social status, but now `the trashier the better`.

Well I say bullocks to that! If you want to be a whore own up to and BE A WHORE. [male or female] Don`t try to legitimize it or rationalize it. OWN IT. You are a whore. If you`re not you`re wearing a whore`s uniform! But don`t pretend it`s a moral choice.

@Nageki - primarily metal salts. But whites are mostly made of titanium dioxide, barium sulfate, or zinc oxide. Some white pigments are derived from anatase or rutile

I wonder if the person who got the "vegan" tattoo knows that tattoo ink is made with animal products...

@Ferdyfred That`s how they look when they are freshly done. They are irritated and the flesh is raised.

It`s not so much that the sun destroys it, the ink washes out to a certain degree just as in any tattoo. The ink will always be there, just not as noticible. To a lot of people, that is what draws them to wanting a white ink tattoo... The brightness of the white is gone, leaving an almost unnoticeable lace-like pattern on the skin. Again, it`s a matter of preference and something someone should research before deciding on getting one. It`s a specialty area even among tattooists.

White ink doesn`t last long. The sun destroys it.
@ ferdyfred - Its because its freshly done.

You could make money letting kids do brass rubbings of them.

The raised ones will have just been done. After scabbing they would settle down.

@JKolodne

Brands never have such fine margins and aren`t capable of having that much detail

Where are the beautiful ones?
All I saw were more of the same stupid tats you see on everybody begging for change outside of coffee shops and 7-11s.

Being a tattoo artist myself I do admire white ink tattoos. HOWEVER, some people are not able to absorb enough of the pigment for it to appear bright. There are also a lot more issues with reactions to white ink than there are to black. That being said, the UV tattoo (the one under the black light) is a totally different kind of ink and NOT a white ink tattoo. I would NEVER recommend anyone to get this kind of ink tattoo!!! The ink causes blistering, itching and scarring in some people and some contain phospherous which could be cancerous.
