Yeah, the layout sucks, and my problem was not finishing the creative project, but shopping it out. A creative person also needs to be a salesperson. These two things do not always coincide

I`m sure you`ll also hate these treatments of what he said:

Ira Glass SAID this about learning how to be a storyteller and a creative in general. He didn`t make the poster. Ira Glass is the host of "This American Life" on NPR. It only means anything who are in creative arts. The rest of you can ignore it.

I also came here to scoff at the bad terrible crappy awful fonts/layout. It triples my existing hatred of people who like to write things down and then take pictures of them holding their pithy thoughts.

I didn`t spend a ton of time analyzing it, but all I see are 3 font families used. One script and two sans-serif (the "r"s are different). I love how non-designers have a hard time looking at anything that`s not boring and predictable. Some people can`t stand when a design has something half off the edge of the screen or if I decide to start a video in black for a while to build drama, like many major movies do nowadays. no imagination....

@Howler
Not to detract from your lovely point, but the graphic designer in me just has to ask you: Can you imagine how boring and ugly it would be to make a poster that is just one clean full-justified block of Helvetica? Get over yourself and embrace diversity!

@drummeryan
A helluva lot more than you will ever do "lol" (especially considering you haven`t yet mastered `Google`). Wiki IMDb

@Draculya
Try going back to school.

Can`t people keep a consistent font anymore?

I respect the sentiment, but I wish it had been said by someone with stronger artistic credentials.

Who ever made the poster is definitely still at that state. Keep trying.

That is extremely inspiring because I`ve had that rut for years, and I gave up. Maybe I should start again.

@mentott510 I think the rule is, if at first you don`t succeed, give it one more shot, and then piss on it.

Regardless of your inborn talent, it takes time and effort to develop a skill.

It`s all here.

Read something somewhere and it said that it takes ten years to become an expert at any one thing. Also not digging the font changes. How dare you not love the ira! LOVE THE IRA!

This is exactly how I view my work here on I-A-B. They won`t all make you sit and think and they won`t all have you laughing til you stop. But, by golly, I`ll keep at it til ....one of them does.

Not to detract from the lovely message there, but the graphic designer in me just has to say it: I absolutely hate the mishmash of fonts and colors. I know it`s supposed to be artsy and sophisticated, but it just hampers readability and annoys me. It`s like having something read to you by Robin Williams as he insists on breaking into a different impression every four or five words. It may seem like it`d be fun on the surface, but only if you don`t care about what`s being said.

Very true. I`m still in that phase where my stuff isn`t as great as I want it to be. Once in a while, I love the way something turned out but most of the time not, even when people tell me it`s good. It`s rough but I guess it`s normal. thanks for this post!
