Democrats have run the city of Detroit for half a century, and they have run it into the ground. The last Republican mayor of Detroit was Louis Miriani, 1957-1962.

@OldOllie

How the **** did liberals have anything to do with this.
It was good ole` American free market capitalism that destroyed Detroit`s economy.
I live in Michigan, our governor is a die hard republican. Don`t try dumping the blame on people who aren`t even running things here.

My parent`s neighbor was robbed. She happens to be my aunt. They called the cops, but they never came. They called 4 times over 2 and 1/2 days and they never came. On the third day after blowing up the police phone, one finally showed up...and he was pissed off. "What do you expect us to do?" he said. This isn`t detroit, it`s Lake Stevens WA. The cops aren`t busy here...we have like 6 black people here. They are lazy and arrogant.

Actually? For a non-emergency call? A few hours is typical in North America, yes?

Depending on the time & day, there could be a pile of actual emergencies that get priority over your B&E.

@Patchouly is correct: It`s not a home invasion. It`s `just` a break, enter & theft (B&E).

As for fingerprint hunting and such? The odds of them figuring out who did it are very small indeed. Unlike TV crime shows? Most crimes get `solved` by luck or confession...

patchouly, there is a rule in detroit:
If it is a passed crime, they will be there in a few hours.

If it is a current crime and the criminal is still there, they will be there in a couple more hours.

If there is a weapon is involved, they will stop by in a couple of days.

keith2, yeah, I dont go to the west side anymore unless absolutely necessary. Which luckily, isnt very often.

They made a good point though. She comes home and realizes her house has been broken into, she calls the police because she doesn`t know if anyone is in the house and they take 4 hours to get there? It`s basically like saying "Well if they ARE still in there, let them keep taking stuff, eventually they`ll leave and you can go back home"

Fxcking Detroit.. yesterday two guys come up to my car heckling me on the west side. Thankfully they decided it was a bad idea to mess around with me and walked away after we had some words.

A few months ago some dude in my neighborhood was attacked by his axe-wielding uncle a bystander instantly called for a the police and ambulance, but it took them almost 50 minutes to arrive, and when they did the guy had bled so much he was almost dead.

@Draculya--The government doesn`t spend it, Detroit politicians pocket the money and run.

@Patchouly--They really wouldn`t be there in minutes for a home invasion, either. Maybe in New York or Chicago...but Detroit is a whole different beast entirely.

Where I live, if theres a domestic dispute, the police are there within 5 minutes - 3, last time there was hassle in my neck of the woods. There was a drunk down the road, took them a few minutes to come and pick them up - they then took em home, im guessing tucked em in bed and read them a story and went back to work. Functional.

We now have to adjust the old advice. When seconds count, the police are now hours away.

It`s a B&E. Not a "Home Invasion". I`m sure if it were a home invasion, there would have been cops there in minutes. With a B&E, the crime has already occurred. There is no rush and the cops need to take care of more urgent things before they get down to take your info.

Is this supposed to be the news ? I just see a guy goofing around and 2 other people giving their opinion like they`re at the local bar...

What`s the average response time depending on different crimes, how many officers are there per citizen, what`s the amount of cut backs ? If I want to just watch a retard goofing around there`s youtube blogs.

Hah. As a resident of southeast Michigan, you don`t have to tell me that.

The city has no money, and its government is riddled with corruption. It would be one thing if the cops were overburdened (wouldn`t be a surprise in a city like Detroit) but it`s not just that. They`re also just sh*tty cops.
