normalfreak2-"There are destitute and poor still and you know what"

I didn`t claim there wasn`t.

normalfreak2-"stealing sure the heck does seem like a viable option to some people."

Only to idiots. Armed robbery (which what the discussion is about) is NEVER a viable option. Stealing other`s property is NEVER a viable option, and always runs the chance of getting the transgressor killed.

normalfreak2-"won`t say everyone that steals does it for a noble purpose"

And I`ll say that NO ONE that steals does it for a noble purpose.

normalfreak2-"the saying "Walk a mile in their shoes" comes to mind."

Been there, done that, DIDN`T resort to robbing people.

@MCgrendle

Completely and unequivocally disagree. There are destitute and poor still and you know what, stealing sure the heck does seem like a viable option to some people. Grant it I won`t say everyone that steals does it for a noble purpose, there will always be DBags that steal for no good reason. I think the saying "Walk a mile in their shoes" comes to mind.

@patchouly: Why does the criminal have `a right` to use a gun (in a crime) but the civilian have `NO right` to use a gun (in self-protection)?
That has always amazed me: how liberals can so easily accept the `double standard` in literally all their beliefs.

Why doesn`t he SELL the gun if he`s so strapped for cash? Oh, ic, it`s his primary source of income! Can`t deny a man his job, can we?

patchouly-"that he needs to rob you"

This one statement pretty much demonstrates how asanine and ignorant your stance is.`

NO one, at NO time, `needs` to rob anyone.

It`s not a survival trait. It is not at any time a viable option.

If you can`t make it through life without the `need` to rob someone, you`d make better use of the gun by placing it to your temple and pulling the trigger.

patchouly-"is it right that the general population has the right to make that decision and carry out the execution? "

The general population, IN ANY COUNTRY, have the right to self-defense.

You threaten someone with a gun, or rob someone, you have forfeited your right to `reasonable restraint` or any claim to safety.

It`s not `execution`, it`s suicide by stupidity.

patchouly-"does a guy who is so down on his luck that he needs to rob you, deserve the death penalty?"

I hate this argument, because it`s so damn stupid.

The `Death Penalty` is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime.

This, is not that. The state was not involved, so please quit using that argument.

What this is, is a sub-human who thinks this life is worth less than the contents of a ladies purse. It is a known quantity that if you pull a gun on someone you can easily end up dead.

He thinks his life is worth very little. Who are we to argue?

@5cats

I wouldn`t argue that collegebounds interpretation legally isn`t incorrect. I think we can all agree it`s poorly written because it can be interpreted a few ways

"And...is it right that the general population has the right to make that decision and carry out the execution?"

Yes. It`s called self defense.

"The big question here is, does a guy who is so down on his luck that he needs to rob you, deserve the death penalty?"

If you point a gun at someone, then yes, you forfeit your life.

This is one of the STUPIDEST things ever posted at IAB.

Little Old Ladies go around murdering hapless robbers in cold blood? I don`t half hardly think so...

Stupid gun-grabbers.

A real mugger would definitely lower their gun while their victim digs around in their purse.

Definitely wouldn`t just take the whole purse.

Yep. Yep. No problems here.
