I`ve said before muslims are animals.
    Let me rephrase that.
    Cops and muslims are animals.

How do you let someone die like that? Slowly suffering? It`s not a racial thing, the female sheriff who brought him food was black, it`s just not human.

Man slams his own face into door, breaks his own neck. His fault. Not the officer.

Unfortunately, They left him in there for 2 days, It now becomes their fault.

I agree Gerry sometimes it isn`t a race thing. In this case I think it`s a desensitized response. Those cops deal with scum and they develop a thick cold skin. Reading all the info I`m so saddened for this guy and the way he was treated.

It makes me think that we are screwing ourselves in so many ways in this country. In other countries there`s so few criminals that they are CLOSING prisons.

Here we`re just building bigger ones. I think the difference is they spend their tax money on rehabilitation as opposed to detention as we do.

To me it makes sense, someone steals find the source-education them so they can get a job and more importantly HELP them get a job and follow through. Instead we just throw them in a cell filled with similar people who progress their criminal minds.

How can expect any effective changes considering the results is an increase in crimes and drug use.

    Done with rant.

I`m a big old freakin bigot. A racist.
But even I would not let someone, anyone!, not even someone of a different race suffer and die in this manner. Basic human laws apply. If you leave someone in this condition you are not human yourself. You deserve nothing but a slow death yourself!

Lucky for them I don`t believe in a death penalty. Just toss them in jail. Be sure to let the other prisoners know they are cops.

this is a very misleading headline. He refused to eat not, could not feed himself, he pushes the food away.

Guy suffered a mental break down and was barking like a dog at times. He shouldn`t have been taken to a police cell he should have been taken to a psychiatric hospital. That`s the main reason they are culpable, they failed in first instance everything other failing lead on from that.

What really angered me, was the way the Sheriff is on record "we look forward to fighting this in court" You do not look forward to arguing infront of a judge why a man died under your care you arrogant prick

(only 2 mins in at the moment and ...)

Boy I can just feel the love and compassion radiating off the cops/officials!

(Yes, trying to be as sarcastic as possible here)

And all their efforts at the end to `save him` sure as f*ck does not make up for 2 days of unbelievable neglect!!

I`m a physician. I watched the entire video, followed the time stamps, read the associated article. Undersheriff Tim Albin said, "We`re looking forward to defending the case in court." There is NOTHING defensible here.
Bakcagain21 may well be correct that he belonged in a psych unit, though they may have to start in a regular lock-up depending on the day of the week or time of day or if the local law requires a hearing first. Not a lawyer and don`t know their laws.
    C Frost,
It looked to me like he tried to open the box of food. Looked like he was only able to drink by dipping his fingers and sucking the water off. Not enough fine motor control left. Pushed it away, whether on purpose or by accident, when he couldn`t.

Based on my observations upon viewing the video & reading the article on this issue - it appears the suspect was supposedly known to have suicidal mental issues prior to bashing his own head into the door. Whether that is true or was beatings down by the cops. We don`t know... One thing is for sure, this suspect should`ve been put in place at a mental/psych ward than a jail cell. It is clear the suspect even attempted to sate his own hunger despite his paralyzing injuries.

This flagarant display of callousness from lawful authorities is much more of a bigger concern than even psychopathic criminals. If in intelligent, sane people allowed say, suspects who has done lesser degree of crimes to suffer inhumanely, then they are no better than the cold-blooded serial criminals they throw in jails or prison. If they were only following policies here, then clearly, it is rewarding callous behavior while punishing people who lives off on callous behaviors.

wow..."It ends two days later, at 8:41 a.m. on Oct. 27, with jail personnel checking the bottoms of Williams` feet for a response before returning at 11:04 a.m. to begin CPR." That right there is enough for me to be angry. How do you wait that long before doing CPR? It`s like they didn`t even try to help him at all. And all he was arrested for was a "disturbance". He was obviously unwell, either with mental illness or a physical illness that was causing mental issues. Even if he was on Acid or something he deserves proper treatment...

You can`t throw someone "having a mental breakdown" into a cell and just ignore him and his claim that he can`t move after bashing his head into a wall. That`s just stupid.

It`s abandonment of duty, depraved indifference, and criminal. They contributed to his death by doing nothing to interfere with it and should be charged.
