Link: Farmer Digs Fire Line With Tractor - Simply amazing. This was in Weld County, Colorado. The fire burned an estimated 20-30 acres in the 80 acre field.

thats not digging, thats cutting, and yeah he`s doing a smart thing australain firefighters use it as one fo their main tools for bushfires, you cut of a strip of food for the fire so it doesn`t spread. (i.e. you create a containment line) I hope for his sake it worked. in this case..

It worked, that`s what. He stopped the fire from spreading, perhaps to his house. That`s a good thing.

I read a few years ago about a guy in California who did this to save his house. Fish and Wildlife fined him several $thousand for disrupting the habitat of a f***ing rat, providing absolute indisputable proof that in the mind of a federal government bureaucrat, you are lower than a rat.

Yes, that case of a man being fined for trying to stop the spread of a wildfire happened in my neck (exuse me, non-nice individual) of the woods.
