Isn`t it awesome how militarized local law enforcement has become! No wonder there`s so much disdain against cops.

Great link. For one thing, it`s confirmed my impression that many police departments are using a monthly quota for tickets. For another, it`s added a book to my reading list (*Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America`s Police Forces*). Thanks, CJ.

@CrakrJak As much as I dislike this persona you present on this site, this is a great post and an important issue. I don`t like you, but I thank you for this post.

"To Protect & To Serve" - Old fashioned ideas. They {the Cops} are there for 2 reasons.

1: Keep the peace. It`s not about justice, or right/wrong, keep the peace!

2: Fundraising. "Drunk Driving" in California is now legally 1 beer. That is no where near drunk, but the courts and police make a lot of money from fines & mandatory rehabs {court gets a commission} and counseling, and vehicle towing/storage. They make too much money to let this business die down.

I am a patriot, but the USA`s the USSA now and DEATH TO AMERICA!

P.S. I like Crazy Ass CrakrJak. I don`t always agree, I usually don`t, but at least he`s usually well thought out in his stance. Has an intellectual yet misguided opinion. :-P

One union to rule them all, and in the darkness, force them to get quotas or get the drat out.

@Gerry1of1 You are my favorite person in IAB, and I agree with you ,America lost it`s bath. however, saying Death to America is just wrong. Am refuge (you already figure that out from my messed up English) and currently a citizen of this great country. yes I disagree with many of it`s policy but defiantly agree with its core values. don`t lose hope man.

Targets - targets - targets. It`s the New World mantra. It should not even be a consideration where policing is concerned. People are rightly outraged when we hear about a bad cop and we should be equally so for a good guy like this. Are they saying he suddenly couldn`t do his job just because an A-hole new Chief wants his stats to look good?
How far is this culture allowed to go? Fire fighters have to torch buildings to justify their existence?
I know a guy that works for one of the big emergency car breakdown companies. Every month he has the best stats for repairing cars at the scene. His bosses, though, are constantly on his back because it means he has to call out less garages to recover and repair which means less income for them. Society has gone to poo.

Is that police chief retarded? How can you implement a quota on traffic and parking violations? What if there isn`t a 100 whatevers? Is this how end up with traps and sneaky cops? I once got pulled over because of a temporary "no right turn between 8 and 12" (or some other hours sign) where I made rights all the time. The cops were just AFTER the turn with 2 other cars pulled over NOT ON the corner waving people to go straight.

This is nothing new. I worked in Baton Rouge, LA 1988-1990. A lab tech was also a part time trooper and he told me that, to avoid getting a ticket in LA, I should a) not change lanes often or otherwise call attention to myself, b) try not to go more than 10 over the posted limit and c) especially be careful at the end of the month when the cops were trying to make their ticket quota. I`m 49 and have never had more than a warning for speeding by following his advice. In my lifetime, I`ve gotten only 3 tickets total. 2 parking tickets in Minnesota and 1 wrong-way ticket coming out of a parking garage in Ohio. My regular exit was closed and I turned the wrong way coming out from the other side, right in front of a cop. I turned around to the right way immediately but he had no other choice but to ticket me when it`s a wrong way. He actually apologized for having to do it because I was so nice about it.

Lol thats what happens when the people let their nation become all about money and business. History has tons of lessons about it, why didnt anyone study it and do what it took to prevent it? Oh thats right they got lulled into the delusion of money. Poor guy, i bet that cop was one of the good ones.

Mad_Gremlyn: I`m not presenting a "persona" at all.

Don`t really care if people like or dislike me, popularity is not a goal of mine. A person`s principles should not be suppressed by peer pressure or threats.

That is why I posted this video. This cop has principles and they aren`t for sale.

i know, a few years back a few police officers in the Netherlands lost their job because of a compatition they had. they would try and see who wrote the most tickets by the end of each month.

None of the tickets they wrote were wrongfully given, but because they made a sport of it ,they were fired, as this was not the attitude sought after in police officers.

Personaly, writing a lot of tickets, i can understand, even quota`s i am not too negative about, but if you have to broaden your standards to reach them, there is something seriously wrong. I wish him and any police officer trying to right this wrong the best of luck

Modwain, I must disagree. Quotas assume people are going to be breaking laws, and that is a bad outlook on life. Almost every western country has some sort of innocent until proven guilty mentality. This should be reflected in our law enforcement policies and procedures. Perhaps a quota of "30% of your stops have to be ticketed," This would be to stop nice cops from letting every lawbreaker off the hook, and would also stop bad cops from harassing innocent people looking for offenses.

@tedgp: Entrapment is when the police forces someone into a situation that makes them break the law. No one is forcing these nig...people into a car to steal and sell for crack.

as a male, everytime i have ever been pulled over by a police officer, i have gotten a ticket, unlike my exwife, she had been pulled over for speeding at least a dozen times and never got more than a warning. granted, i WAS guilty of the tickets but so was she. I have never had a verbal or written warning in my entire life of 42 years. and I have never had a ticket over 10 mph over speed limit... my exwife had been pulled over for several times 10+ 20+ and 30+ over and never even got a warning ticket. I know, she is an ex and one might accuse her of being a whore to get out of tickets or something... but that is not the case. (she is a whore though, lol) but that did nt have to do with her discretions. a famale that gets pulled over by a male 99 out of 100 will not get a ticket. oh wait, i did get pulled over by a female cop once... and you might not gues this, but i got a ticket then too.

There are three types of cops.
1: School bully likes to keep bullying.
2: Was bullied in school and now wants his turn to bully.
    3: Man hating women.

You have to want to dominate/control others to be a cop. If you just wanted to help people & serve society without the control element you`d be a fire fighter or paramedic or some such.
