Been there, done that, not fun and you know it`s bad when the crew have a shakey voice after you`ve landed

@ Emmettyville: Emmy, this is why I was unable to attend your recent "How To Swear Like A Pirate" seminar. Pilot tried three times and then, taking a page from your syllabus, said "[email protected] IT!" Maybe next time. =^.^=

Asiana Airlines should have a hub at this location. The only way to land is manually and if you can land in these conditions you can land anywhere!

This is why airports in most civilized locations have more than one runway.

@OldOllie, in these conditions, it doesn`t matter which direction the wind is coming from, look at the water, its a good indicator how strong the gust of winds are.

I live in New Zealand and flew into Wellington recently. The flight was during one of the worst winds all year. My 2 year old son slept through the landing and only woke up when everyone started clapping because the pilot managed to land it first time

Yes. my Uncle Pete lives there and takes the plane in and out of Wellington fairly often, and on numerous occasions a collection from the passengers was proffered to the flight crew on landing!!

@Boaco in these conditions, it doesn`t matter which direction the wind is coming from...
In fact, it matters a lot. If this were a headwind, it would make it EASIER to land than no wind at all. Also, significant wind gusts only occur around storms, and I don`t see evidence of one here.
