This is why I dont go to gyms - my legs are even thinner than this guys. I dont give a hoot what people think, but people actively stopping me to make fun of me? Im not paying squat for that.

Also, im not particularly weak. I can do 20 press ups easily (25 at a stretch), I can lift heavy stuff without too much strain and I can do a few pull ups. I have strength in excess of anyting I have to do day to day, which, to be honest, is all that really matters.

And finally, in line with Beard`s comment, I know exactly where to punch.

OhNoFrodo,
Don`t get me wrong. I consider this to have been abusive behavior. I just don`t think the word "bullying" applies. I think of bullying as a continued mockery, or other abusive behavior, aimed at a specific person or group. This looks more like a random mockery of any and everyone he can. He`s a genuine a$$h0le. He goes over the top, and possibly outside the law (I`m no lawyer), when he posts it.

`I might be a skinny c*nt, but I`ll knock you the f*ck out.` A friend of mine once said this to some guy who was bothering him. Always stuck with me!

Very serious problem at gyms. Never been in one where there isn`t one douchebag parked in front of mirror judging others. They are the ones that don`t actually do that much, they just hang out.

You go to gym to improve yourself. You won`t want to go if you think you`ll have a picture put online and mocked.

@gerry Back in the day you wouldn`t have taken the picture and you`d have mocked him for it. No the picture has made it across Australia Europe US etc with people laughing at home.

As the Gym operator said people need to feel comfortable at the gym or they won`t go and the whole reason people go to the gym is to feel more comfertable about their body

I am a small guy. 6`0", 125-135 (when wet ;-)), and I found his caption hilarious.

When I use free weights, I curl 15 lbs (6.8 kilos) for each arm. So, as far as strength, I`m probably no stronger than the kid being "ridiculed".

i think people miss the point of a gym. hes joking on some guy that is there to exercise and get muscle in the process. without the guys caption, is it funny? i think so. the OP probably has some insecurities - [a] reason to be at a gym. I think the question is, does he even lift?

I think I get it. As long as it`s funny it flies under the radar? So the next time I kick someone`s ass and post it on facebook it has to actually have a funny caption and show me whistling Singing In the Rain whilst doing it.

"I mean the internet didn`t change human nature."

True. It made it easier for haters to spread a bad message, though. Enough at times, I think, to earn the charge of bullying.

Why? You don`t think we had teasing, name calling, "Mean Girl Syndrome" before the internet? Or people talking behind your back or passing nasty notes about you and then reading them out loud behind you just quiet enough the teacher doesn`t hear and the others laugh and snicker and then the next thing you know your self esteem is so low you`re out behind Bobby Dalinski`s house doing..... um

I mean the internet didn`t change human nature.

why was he making fun of the skinny guy when the picture showed how skinny his calves were?

My gym doesn`t allow cameras. Thought that was standard so a-holes and pervs can`t do this.

P.S. It`s only teasing when you have a friendly relationship with the person and you both know you don`t really mean it or don`t mean it in a hurtful way.

Takes a real tough guy to post on the internet. I`m sure he`s not the biggest guy in the gym either, there`s always someone bigger and stronger

Broizfam and Gerry, I still think there is a difference between teasing and abuse. I know there is a lot of banter on IAB and most of it is quite light hearted and making fun of someone at their expense. To me there is a very wide difference from "Hey, want me to spot for ya in case you drop that 10 kilo`s" and "hey look at this guy can`t even handle a 10Kg weight". I suppose as usual it comes down to perception and the best judge of banter/abuse is who it is aimed at. I do take your points though both of you..and don`t forget that Gymnasium comes from he Greek gymnasion...to train in the nude ;) )
"would you not consider mental or emotional abuse of someone as bullying"
No, I wouldn`t. I`d call it Teasing. Or if it`s bad he`s making this guy his whipping post. But if every behavior we don`t like is "Bullying" then everyone is a bully at some point.

Words have definitions so we an avoid confusion. When we stretch the definitions beyond their scope we get confusion and discord.

And why is every hurt feeling "emotional abuse" ?
Life is full of asshats and we just have to learn to deal with them.

Ohnofrodo, yeah there is acceptable bullying, the guy no one even thinks to defend.... and unacceptable bullying, the ones who have rallies of support. Didn`t you know that?

OhNoFrodo,
I agree that in, this internet age, we`ve had to adapt and widen the definition of bullying. I agree with Gerry, too, in that I still don`t feel this constitutes bullying because there`s no attempt to cause a change in the victims` behavior or in anyone`s behavior toward the victims. The way I read the article it looks like he was randomly posting pics and belittling comments on anyone to whom he felt superior. It`s certainly inappropriate, definitely douchebaggery, and possibly even illegal as an invasion of these people`s privacy and unlicensed publication of their images. Unless he was also specifically targeting a few of them in a campaign of ridicule, I don`t see it as bullying.

Gerry, would you not consider mental or emotional abuse of someone as bullying? I have seen plenty of people say some pretty nasty things on IAB in the past, to put them down and humiliate them. Is that not cyber bullying? how is this any different?

Why is this called "Bullying"?
It`s douchebaggery to be sure, but bullying should require some physical domination. Nowadays the soft-headed mislabel everything. No doubt he has a "Bullying" addiction.
