Not a surprise. I had read things about this guy before. Kind of strange how people are not heroes or angels in life, but become perfect angels and saints in death. Look what the media is doing with Trayvon Martin. He didn`t deserve to die, but he brought about his own death.

Have to agree, SCFan. Can`t say that around my mom who was a huge fan back in the day ... but there`s a station around here that plays a double-set of the Beatles every single day (and I`m at work so I`m a hostage to it) ... and it`s made me realize ... wow ... they suck. I mean they had some good hits but the other 90% of their music sounded more like "Meh, we`re famous. drat it. We could record the sound of our toilet flushing and it`ll be in the top 10 just because it`s us".

The loong and winding road that leads to your door..
Oh, I`m sorry John wasn`t royal, grew up tough. Had the coolest insights for the time "Norwegian Wood" anyone, "Day in the life".
Lennon wasn`t a saint, neither have I been, the only cool thing about maturity is insight.

John Lennon was no saint, that`s for sure. But that goes for most musicians and artists because their passions lead them.

Never cared for him. Despite how uber wonderful the world always worships him as ... I just always got that vibe that he was just a full-of-himself prick.

I`ll give the hippie douchebag a pass on hitting his women. It was not uncommon to hit your wife in the 60s. We didn`t acknowledge the problem or start saying it was bad until the 70s.

But dumping your wife and child to shack up with your mistress is reprehensible. Once you have a kid YOUR needs are secondary. People have forgotten this.

Interesting list.. Stopped reading at talentless

The 60s Beatles songs are "dated"?! THEY`RE ABOUT 50 YEARS OLD.. Things can be distinctly of their time and not be `dated` in the sense used here.. Nirvana, for example :P

It depends- I suspect many charges here could be levelled at others. Luck plays such a part in fame that things such as talent, or behaviour may be far less relevant than they are credited for.

Most of this is trash and lies. Lennon had a screwed up life. He had drug issues and struggled with mental issues. I`d say he fared pretty well. Ignore most of this right wing drivel and you have a guy who was struggling to accept his spot in life and was prone to binges as a way to deal with it all.

Besides, he`s still a million times better than Beiber.

The Dude: It`s like what Lenin said... you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh...
Donny: I am the walrus.
The Dude: You know what I`m trying to say...
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: That drating bitch...
The Dude: Oh yeah!
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: Shut the drat up, Donny! V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!
Donny: What the drat is he talking about, Dude?

John Lennon was marginal at best. There are a handful of songs I enjoy from The Beatles, but in the most part, they`re awful.

Can`t argue with this list exept for "Talentless." Sure, John was an average guitarist, but even if you want to dismiss later songs like "Strawberry Fields" or "Walrus" (which it would be asinine to do anyway), older songs like "You`ve Got to Hide Your Love Away," "Norwegian Wood," "In My Life," "Rain," etc. are really well-written songs.
