Next time I give a thumbs up, I will be more solemn about it.

Somehow, "flat earth" and "global" in the same sentence is even more ridiculous when it comes from Ollie. Keep up your "high" standards, o` great neo-clown!

True, The emancipation proclamation didn`t free northern slaves. Slaves in the north were freed by the individual northern states before then. The 13th and 14th Amendments freed all slaves, constitutionally in 1865.

FYI, the Flat Earth society has declared its support for the theory of man-made global warming.

A couple of details:

1) The gestures used in Roman gladiator fights aren`t known for sure and might well have varied. For example, Martial refers to people displaying pieces of white cloth to indicate mercy. I`ve also read of the mercy gesture being enclosing a thumb in the other hand, symbolising sheathing a sword, but I can`t remember where. Juvenal refers to thumbs turned to indicate death...but turned how? Some form of movement is plausible, symbolising stabbing. These things were so well known to Romans that Roman writers needn`t explain them.

2) Napoleon was usually seen in the company of his personal guards...who had a high minimum height requirement. That made him look smaller.

It`s nice to see a list of facts on the net that actually are facts.

Lady Godiva never actually rode naked through the streets of Coventry, England.

Godiva was a real person who lived in the 11th century and she really did plead with her ruthless husband, Leofric, the Earl of Mercia, to reduce taxes. But no records of the time mention her famous ride. The first reference to her naked ride doesn`t appear until around 1236, nearly 200 years after her death.

Just FYI

I wish they had turned the old-timey projector sound up a bit. It barely drowned out the piano music.
