The parking stat is total bs. It`s the one thing countless women have admitted they struggle with.

I don`t see these as very accurate.

I rarely have to parallel park but when I do, I`m pretty good at it. Although I will search for a decent space. All I know is, in 25 yrs, I`ve never hit anyone and the only tickets I`ve ever gotten were two parking tickets and a wrong way because they closed the exit I normally used coming out of a parking ramp and I made a bad left exiting onto a divided road, right in front of a cop waiting at a light. He actually apologized for having to give it to me because I was so nice about admitting I screwed up.

One of the "contributing factors" to accidents is listed as being "carless." Somehow, I don`t think that`s accurate.

Women are bad drivers because they generally don`t seem to understand the dynamics of the vehicle. Men are bad drivers because of their egos. I have 2 women neighbors. One on each side of me. One parks poorly and the other is consistently excellent. Me... I`m in the middle :)

This is gobbled-gook! It might as well have been written in Sanskrit for all the sense it makes.

Number of accidents per mile driven = the only measure that counts.

As long as drivers of either gender have egos, this debate will never end. Personally, I can`t stand the whole "battle of the sexes," I think it`s rubbish.

Far too often I see women driving around by themselves in their bigass SUVs, whilst being on the phone or putting on makeup, or generally doing anything but paying attention to the road.

Reignblazer: Yes, I have seen way to many accidents in the newspaper resulting from distracted driving by females. One 19 year old here was charged with several counts of vehicular homicide because she was texting while driving. She was in a head-on collision killing two of her friends, in the car with her, and a woman in the other car. Sadly the other driver was a new mother with her baby in a car seat in the back.

All told 3 funerals for 3 different families, one of her friends critically injured, as well as herself and the only one that came out unscathed was the baby boy.

The impounded, wrecked cars were later towed out on a flatbed for all to see in the local Halloween parade. A sobering moment for all and a visual warning not to text and drive.

I see just as many men yacking on their phone. Phones in cars are a problem in general. I think cars should be built with a shell that wrecks your phone signal so in order to use one, you have to have the engine off (so if you really have an emergency in the middle of nowhere you just have to pull over and park). Of course, immediately someone will sell or tell people a way to disable it so it`s a waste of time.

There`s probably a reason women have lower insurance rates than men, and my friends have definitely skewed my perception of which sex is a better driver. My male friends are cautious and courteous, while one of my female friends ducks down under the wheel while driving to smoke a bowl and another is a text-a-holic and I`ve stopped riding with them. But I usually don`t hang out with jackasses and I know there are tons of reckless young men out there that drive way faster or erratic than what their actual skill level is. Maybe ego plays a big part of it. I know when I`m out on my motorcycle, tons of ricers want to race me like they think their 4 cylinder can beat a sports bike or something. I`m just going to work right now, leave me the drat alone!

    CrakrJak,
Excellent comment. As lauriloo points out, plenty of guys on phones, too. Phones aren`t the only problem, either. I`ve seen women applying makeup as they drive and guys shaving, both looking in the rear view mirror while under way.

There`s probably a reason women have lower insurance rates than men

Charging men more increases the profits of insurance companies, so they charge men more. Like any business, it`s about profit. If charging people more because of the colour of their skin was profitable, they`d do that too. Or their natural hair colour, or their shoe size, or anything else. It`s all about profit.

The excuse, in the rare event of anyone questioning it, is that the average cost per claim is higher for young men than it is for young women. That might or might not be true (nobody seems to have checked), but it`s not the point anyway. The point is profit and that means considering what prices can be increased without reducing the number of customers, so insurance companies discriminate only in ways that are socially acceptable. It`s all about profit.

One of the "contributing factors" to accidents is listed as being "carless." Somehow, I don`t think that`s accurate.

I wonder if the person who wrote it was deliberately pretending to be careless about what they wrote.

Or maybe some drivers are jumping out of moving cars, leaving themselves carless. That would certainly contribute to accidents! :)

I`ll also complain about a popular mangling of English, although at least in this case the usual sexism wasn`t added.

In English, "women drivers" is a clumsy way of referring to people who drive women and "men drivers" is a clumsy way of referring to people who drive men.

The difference between a noun and an adjective is very simple and should be clear even if you`re too badly educated to know what the words "noun" and "adjective" mean.

@lauriloo: That IS a good idea! But like you said: it just won`t work.

@Angilion: `afaik` the average PER YEAR number of claims is the real kicker in insurance costs. Men drive 3X as much, and make 2X as many claims (again! iirc!) so they "cost more" even if the average cost per claim is the same (which I think is the case).

    @tommy2X4: Me too!

Holy poo! And people think Japan is weird! How do they manage to pack THAT much weirdness into only 52 episodes? Impressive!
