Mayor Smith buys guns for the police force. His successor, Mayor Jones, orders the police to shoot all the homeless people in town. Therefore Mayor Smith and Mayor Jones are EQUALLY responsible for the murders.

Yes! That`s a perfectly sane, legitimate and constructive analogy, OldOllie. I feel that we`ve had a good discussion already!

Oh no! Seems my sarcasm versus subtlety meter was broken. Sorry for any confusion, Ollie. ;-)

Only people to blame are ourselves. We didn`t make a fuss when the first liberty fell, or the next. Nor the next dozen.

We let them do it, and we didn`t even complain. We just bent over and said "More"

@Gerry1of1: 100% agreed, Gerry. And sadly, we`re so used to the justifications, that plenty of people on both sides of the aisle are today telling us to be calm, that we need to just keep on bending over because it`s good for us. :-(

Smeggy, you don`t have to explain yourself. You`re the only one here who doesn`t get what just happened.

Almost unanimously handing away our rights and freedoms.

We NEED a good old French style revolution!
When can we start executing them for treason to the American citizenry?

As citizens we should demand both that our government do the main thing a government should do and protect its citizens. But at the same time we need to preserve freedom and we should also demand that of our government. Seems to me there`s a fine line between freedom and security. Perhaps what we need is a much quicker way for us the citizens to hold accountable the government from failing either to not protect us or that it abuses the powers we allow it. Several people who lied and covered up in the Benghazi scandal are now up for promotions! Shameful. People are dead and they get a promotion!
