Shouldn"t Green Greenwald be charged with aiding & abetting Snowden? Or was he just being a journalist? Story in Credits

Speaking as a left-wing liberal I don`t generally care for Greenwald, I find him sanctimonous and possessed of a moral relativism that exceeds even my own.

Bt he`s right on this. He`s a reporter and he reported. It embarassed a foreign government, so what? To ask why the US government should not `come after` a UK journalist is like asking why North Korea shouldn`t `come after` its foreign critics.

It embarassed the British government, so what? Don`t do stuff that embarasses you when it comes to light. This is seriously public interest revelations and while Snowden, Manning and Assange may well have broken laws the evident (and futile) determination of the state to stamp out exposure says everything about the state and what it is up to.

TBH, I`m fine with us spying the hell out of the Chinese and Russians and (one would hope) the French. And I always assumed that if I used the internet or a mobie phone then `the Man` had access one way or another.

Anything that gives the government pause to reflect that maybe they can`t get away with everything is a good thing.

No, the press USED to be the watchdog on the government.

The thing is, it`s not a treason in the first place. All the media is calling Snowden that, unanimously across party lines. The only thing they can agree upon, the ONLY thing., Think about that for a moment. If you think that it`s a treason, maybe spend a little more time with people and less with faux news and MSNBC.

Personally i feel sick of how easily US folks have just went with the government with this, you should be effing on the streets by now.

I would have liked to hear the other guy`s response as well. Both sides, and whatnot.

Journalists have never been given special privilege.
If they fail to turn over their source when a court orders it they can go to jail. And journalists are subject to the same rules about treason. If they knowingly publish classified information they are committing espionage. They aren`t churches, they don`t get a free pass.

No, he`s no different than the guy`s who uncovered Watergate. Same thing with Assange. It`s funny that we have an administration that is prosecuting more and more journalists and leakers under the espionage act and other things than any other administration, the irony being that the people that should be against it are his biggest fans. They sometimes acknowledge the fault, but they still like Obama. Incoherence.

yeah. What that guy just said. The whole point of investigative reporting is to uncover facts, not to repeat ther script that is handed to you by the government. 1984 anyone?
