Wow. Quick-thinking is right. Very very few people would`ve been able to save that dog like that. He deserves some kind of a medal.

@ Sutra: I am so sorry. I happened to think about you and your dog just a few hours ago while I was starting on a walk. I was wondering if she came through all right. I`m very sorry for your loss. I know she had a good owner and I`m sure she will always be grateful for that.

    Thank you squrlz & Piper
I do hope I gave her at least a fraction of love, joy and fun she gave me.
She was adoptated, I had her for four short years. Was not ready for her to go. This is too painful. She was special.
Didn`t think I was possible to feel so much pain.
It will get better with time.
    Thank you

I`ve buried too many beloved dogs in my life, cats too. I feel for you sutra. The bible says that heaven is a paradise, can`t imagine it being a paradise without the pets we dearly loved being there to greet us when we get there.

Crakr thank you for the comforting words.
She was my dog & I was her human. We will recognize each other; another life, another form.

Why wouldn`t the dumb woman just let go of her end of the leash? Sheesh.

Looks like it was a harness instead of just a collar, fortunately. Probably would have choked the dog if it was a collar.

"didn`t look like he did anything" isn`t the fact he tried to the extent he did enough to thank this guy? Just because you feel his actions didn`t contribute to the snapping of the restraint doesn`t mean he should be given any less kudos for trying.

bataleon27 - He put length between the dog and the elevator doors. If he hadn`t have done anything, the dog would have been killed. He prevented the dogs death. It might not have been him putting his own life on the line, but he`s still a hero in my books.
