"A recent report shows that in 40% of households with children, women are the primary earners. Yet they continue to earn less than men. Can you show us your boobies?"

@Squrlz4Sale thanks for the summary. The subtitle was indeed intended as a bit of fun. I hope I have not come close to the bone with @Swaywithme.

Anyhow, lovely weather isn`t it today?

I am reminded of Abigail Fisher the 23 year-old white girl who is currently suing the University of Texas for rejecting her application for substandard performance, when a handful of very poor black people with standards even lower than her were accepted. She`s in the bottom 8% of the barrel, yet wealthy enough for a big lawsuit. Essentially, she`s trying to ban affirmative action, when studies show young white women are the biggest beneficiaries of affirmative action. Now THAT is disingenuous, not to mention bitchy.

FOR THOSE JOINING THIS FLAME WAR IN PROGRESS:

1. Draculya, well-known for his funny and irreverant remarks, provided a sexist (but funny) caption for this video.

2. Swaywithme, full of 20-something indignation, fell on him like a ton of bricks, with lots of strong language.

3. Taken aback by the attack, Draculya doubled down on the sarcasm, then tried to amend things by saying he was referring only to the woman in the video.

4. Not dissuaded, Swaywithme pressed on with her attack.

5. Grryan joined the melee and to press just a few more hot buttons, threw in some info debunking wage discrimination--and did so with a dash of condescension.

6. Swaywithme then stated that she agrees with some of the info that Grryan provided, but it`s too late, because--

7. Here comes Cajun, diving into the ring, fists flying.

RAWR!

Yeah right. I don`t go assassinating someone`s character over something they didn`t say or imply. Yet you`ll gladly tell someone else to go suck it when you`ve be proven wrong.

Methinks some of us have a case of the "Tuesday Reds." Lots of Mr. Grumpies looking for someone to dance with. I`m reasonably sure that if we all understood what each other really thought, there`d be greater than 80% agreement on the topic.

That said, I think FoolsPrussia nailed it. It`s pretty mean to mock someone for stage fright. Everyone can stumble, right?

Oh no, I never said I was wrong nor do I feel the urge to. I DID however have the grace to suggest that neither of us might be right although I really do believe I am. I asked him if his caption meant as I`d read it- he confirmed that it did. Ergo I am justified in telling him to suck a bag of diks :) By all means though keep crying victim on Dracs behalf, one day when there is equality for all you two can wed and never deal with us pesky women folk and our ideals ever again.

Really dude? You`re one who was performing a character assassination on Draculya. I called you out for it.
Just because you can leap to the positive conclusion that Draculya was being sarcastic instead of me leaping to the negative conclusion that he`s a sexist jerk doesn`t make either of us any more right. I still reserve the right to call him out on his shi7.
So you admit you were wrong but still insist he said stupid 5h17?

Yes, the girl is a moron. Yes, the question posed to her was equally, if not more so, moronic. Women are paid about the same, if not more, then men make. That 77 cent on the dollar stat is also moronic.

In a nutshell Miss Utah`s fumbling on camera has nothing to do with how the average incomes of men and women compare.

....THANK YOU FOR STATING MY POINT, GOD FUC.....jesus... I can`t even...
On another note Cajun, when exactly was she supposed to rehearse her answer? You know they don`t know the questions before hand right? They could ask just about anything! The topics vary from women`s rights, equal rights, foreign affairs all the way to...what would you call your auto-biography?
Is there seriously no time of day when they can just watch TV? People form opinions all the time when they watch TV. They don`t have to be perfectly sound, but they can be eloquent.
audience without making yourself look like an ass, seeing as you can`t even do it on the internet :)
Says the one who leaped to conclusions and willingly labeled someone else as "mysoginist" without proving it ;-). If anything Draculya was being sarcastic.

It happens to everyone who fumbles on camera dude, get used to it.
I`m just annoyed at the shallow, hypocritical cultural response.
Nothing hypocritical about it, you`re on camera where everyone can see.

I know there are a lot of reasons why women earn less than men. The only point I`m trying to make is to /Draculya/ specifically that THIS isn`t one of them. No one seems to understand that..

What logical somersaults led you to this conclusion?

None, I`m quoting the OP, do some background reading :) Did you hear the question asked? Did you then see Draculya`s caption? Maybe you don`t get it... <3

On another note Cajun, when exactly was she supposed to rehearse her answer? You know they don`t know the questions before hand right? They could ask just about anything! The topics vary from women`s rights, equal rights, foreign affairs all the way to...what would you call your auto-biography? Their answers are expected not to be too long, or too short, eloquent and diplomatically unoffensive (the girl they asked about gay marriage being legal was basically shot in the foot. No matter what she said, half the audience would boo) I`d like to see you up on stage getting tossed questions in front of an audience without making yourself look like an ass, seeing as you can`t even do it on the internet :)

"She knew the risks of entering the pageant, namely getting up on stage and giving a short coherent speech."

All of that may be true, but it doesn`t excuse the savage mocking she`s received for this. I apologize if I`m coming across as a white knight on this issue. I`m just annoyed at the shallow, hypocritical cultural response.
I thought you said you were staying out of this one.
I`m not watching the video, it will make me cringe.
So now we`re mocking her for stage fright?
She knew the risks of entering the pageant, namely getting up on stage and giving a short coherent speech. If anything the audience certainly did have high expectations of her, and despite this they still do.

Well gee FoolsPrussia maybe she could`ve at least REHEARSED her response before she made it? National TV is NOT the best place to look like an idiot that`s true regardless of gender.

@Swaywithme

I feel bad for any person you`ve ever talked to in your life.
To think that all women deserve to be treated unequally from men because one chick panicked on stage in front of hundreds of people during a beauty pageant just makes you an ignorant
What logical somersaults led you to this conclusion?

@Swaywithme: I`m not assuming they`re stupid at all. What I`m saying is that we as a society assume it, right or wrong, and that assumption only encourages these young women to eschew knowledge.

As far as I`m concerned, I can`t even make a judgement about her intelligence fro this video since it`s not exactly easy to speak in front of a large group of people in a high pressure situation.

Lol...Which one are you, SavageChef? ;]

@FoolsPrussia I kind of hear you but don`t assume that all of these girls are stupid. I don`t put much weight behind these beauty pageants but it is a platform for these girls to do a lot of good in the world. Winning this pageant isn`t just a pretty crown, it`s an entire year commitment to appearances, speeches and general philanthropy. They advocate causes and bring awareness to topics of their choice. Most of them are students.

@Swaywithme: I`m not sure I would have formed a coherent answer in that sort of situation when I was her age.

The real problem I have here is that people are mocking her for being exactly what we expect these girls to be: pretty but stupid. It`s our own failure that people are laughing at, and I think it`s pretty sad.

Does anyone here actually think she has ever been encouraged to think about income inequality?

"Yes, I do" Then you`re a misogynistic blemish on the Earth and I feel bad for any (if any) women in your life.

"Certainly in her case" This doesn`t redeem you. To think that all women deserve to be treated unequally from men because one chick panicked on stage in front of hundreds of people during a beauty pageant just makes you an ignorant, on top of being said misogynistic blemish on the Earth.

The real dummy here is the person that asked the question. Who goes to a beauty pageant to ask the contestants questions about socially relevant topics? Save that for a Town Hall meeting.

Dear Draculya, go f!$@ yourself. You think one girl panicking in a stressful situation and fumbling through a question is a good reason why women only get 77 cents on the dollar that a man earns? Stay Classy.
