You guys need to read @nettech98`s comment. This may have started on the stage, but what he was charged for happened after.

If you`re a white male, game-on! If you`re not, it might be a hate crime. Never sit in the front row of a stand-up performance. My brother did, ( at 50 years old) and wondered why he was getting picked on. I said, "Are You Stupid Er Sometin`?"

"Lenny Bruce died for our comedy sins."

Actually, it was a drug overdose.

Overly sensitive politically correct litigious jerks.

The Americanization of Canada.

More dirty words:
NSA, TSA, PTA, "Hi, I`m gay",
Lone Ranger, Drone Ranger
(protect a stranger in danger)
IRS, PBS, that guy in the office named Les
Ed, Red, Fed, what grows behind the shed
Masturbation, Incarceration, Fraternization,
(brief elation, quasi-rehabilitation)

Lenny Bruce died for our comedy sins. George Carlin explained the original dirty words. We have new dirty words now, clit-likker, dyke, frikken morphodite fags, bum-slicken, finger-sticken, head bobbin, knobbin-gobbin....well you get the idea.

So if I go to a Celine Dion concert in Canada & find her music horribly offensive, I can sue her for $15,000?? OMG! Canada IS quite beautiful this time of year...

Shoot, if Comedians/Actors/Celebrities/ETC could be fined in the United States for insulting people, then America wouldn`t have a national debt and for the first time we`d have a surplus in cash in the bank.

@Nerd_Rage: Nope! NO 1st Amendment here! We Canadians lack many rights y`all take for granted...

Every Province has various "review boards" which are appointed by politicians to... make people`s lives miserable!
In the "name of" combating racism, sexism, genderism... you name it! They fish for victims and find ways to "prove their usefulness".

It`s dreadful! This fellow`s life has been put through a meat grinder, and there`s 100s if not 1,000s more stories just like his.

It`s all about liberals and lawyers...

Typical Canadian thing: political correctness runs amok, peoples lives are ruined, liberals are happy!

He mentions MacLean & MacLean, a comedy duo (brothers) who actually went to jail for saying the word c u n t in their act! Among other filthy words :-) They were very funny!

@KtySpix: The incident itself was 6 years ago! These things drag on for eternity...
The interview (audio) is from 2 years ago, but the story of his loss in the high courts is new.

Off to the Supreme Court Of Canada they go!!

This is setting a dangerous precedent; if hecklers are awarded damages for monetary gains for every comedian comes on to do their sets - even if two wrongs don`t make a right...

Then it won`t be long before our favourite comedic clubs goes out of businesses, and we`ll be getting the last laugh watching comedy at home on tv with 15 minutes of commericals.

Why are people so hell-bent on making our time on this planet the most depressing place to live? Dammit.

F*** the courts and these sh*tty rulings. Laws made by lawyers to make themselves even more money. In the UK, law has just been passed to allow soldiers families the right to sue if they get killed. You`re a f***king soldier, that`s what you do.

I worked with this guy in the 90`s on a show and he was a complete jerk. He should not call himself a comedian.

Thank you nettech98, I was just going to say the same thing. Read the comments, somebody who was there commented that he was at their table confronting them... they reacted badly as well, but he was not on stage being heckled.

If one were to believe the comments left at that site, there`s way more than just a comedy show insult...

"None of what he was charged with happened when he was onstage, nor holding a microphone. He confronted the women at their table and even followed them out to the parking lot and berated them further. He took a woman`s sunglasses off her head and crushed them. And, in a podcast interview, admits that he was already angry and had been drinking before the incident occurred."

Ah the glory of cultural marxism and the "your rights end where my feelings begin" mentality.

Whatever happened to "sticks and stones..."?
Suddenly every one is a whiny little wimp demanding financial compensation because "bo-hu the bad man hurt my feelings"

It`s absolutely breathtaking how every nation, especially industrialized ones, have in their own ways chipped away at freedom of speech their countries.

$15,000 for being insulted at his material?! If you don`t like it don`t watch it.
America is busy limiting freedom of privacy and it looks like our neighbors to the north are working on chipping out their freedom of speech.
