This commercial is so frickin` cute, I can`t get over it. I loved it! :D

I`m wondering if some people just made up a notion of people having a problem with it because they just assumed (wrongly) that someone ELSE might have a problem with it.

So Cheerios hired some people to make this an issue and spread it all over the internet? I suspect it cause I just watched it twice for no reason once so ever, on that note why was it played twice?

Am originally from a small town in Texas, went to an all white school (wasn`t a choice) but I will be damned if I see anything wrong or strange about this. Not understanding the negativity over this. Is this not a snapshot of a part of the U.S.? They should never take this commercial down over idiotic insecurity.

I am so proud of myself. I`ve seen this commercial a dozen times and never noticed that the parents were an inter-racial couple. Guess I`m not a racist...

onoffonoffon-"It would be racial if the white girl was really tubby and the dad was wearing a do rag and had a grill."

So basically every couple I see in Dollar General is racial?

Whodathunkit?

My uncle (white) married a black woman... I remember my mom trying to convince him that it wasn`t worth the trouble to get married....
I had hoped that people had gotten over stupid poo like this.

Rather fake ginned up outrage to get publicity. Also, Cheerios *probably* used an interracial couple so their commercial would get more traction. If so, they were correct.

I don`t get it? an advert about a normal, everyday family- is the USA actually still having issues with that- I cannot believe it - unless possibly you are pat Robertson.

@bacon_pie: There was a subtle change in the conversation between the Mom and Kid...

@thatjimguy: I think you`ve got it right: "fake outrage" to generate free publicity.

The anonymity of the internet allows people to unleash their most secret hatreds, I suppose. How sad to think so many folks are living with that kind of negativity seething in their hearts & minds. Can`t be pleasant.

So, who was objecting, the KKK because a black man had a kid with a white woman?

All I see here is a kid that is concerned for her dad. Does it matter what color any of the actors are?

"Cheerios did here was make the ENTIRE commercial about the bi-racial couple."

Not sure what you mean. I`ve seen the commercial a half dozen times on TV and I never even noticed it was a bi-racial couple until I re-watched it on here. Cute American family with a cute American girl. That`s all.

The commercial was about a little girl misunderstanding how cheerios works and wanting her daddy to be healthy. I don`t see how you could see it any other way.

It`s one thing to include a bi-racial couple . I am all for it, freedom is freedom. But what Cheerios did here was make the ENTIRE commercial about the bi-racial couple.

Show daughter first, White mom second, Black father third.

See how that works?

on a side note.

i`m wondering if people are crying racism because he was asleep on the couch when he was supposed to be eating breakfast.. but that`s just me

LandoGriffin,
That`s right! You should see some of the comments posted on Youtube here, where a black guy posts the commercial along with his commentary on the racist fallout against it. It`s astonishing how close-minded some people still are, especially when they probably then turn around and spout Love, Peace and Jesus!

They go to them because you treated them like crap back in the day. Naturally, they didn`t, therefore the connection between you=white non-nice individual and them="just always sooo nice to me" was firmly established.

No one is saying the commercial is racist. Quite the opposite. Racists don`t like this commercial because it shows an interracial couple. Apparently racists are mad that General Mills isn`t racist enough.

I heard about this a couple days ago. I don`t get why interracial marriage is still an issue. We are all human, no matter what color our skin is.

skypirate-"thought the issue was cause it was suggesting black people had heart problems."

Typically, Facts are not racial. It`s a statistical fact that blacks, on average, have a higher incidence of heart disease as they age.

That being said, there`s absolutely nothing racial about this commercial. Adorable girl, good looking mother and father.

Frankly, I`d have more grounds on being upset that they portrayed the Male as lazy. (They didn`t really, but that is more easily inferred that `racist`.)

One of the cutest, sweetest commercials ever! Unfortunately, it`s bringing out the worst in this nation`s racist A-holes, both black and white. Yes, that`s right...black people can be racists, too.

Oh noes! And we thought when we outlawed miscegenation back in the 50s to keep our race pure that that would settle things! Oh my, what terrible times have befallen us and our master race.

[/racist, bigoted, idiot sarcasm]
