Starbucks-like cafes selling high-grade strains of pot? New jobs? High revenue for the US? Why isn"t this happening now?

"Why not? Half the country is stupid enough to vote for Barack Obama."

Yeah and most of the rest are even stupider and voted for Mitt Romney.

Can`t see how it can do any harm.

@papajon0s1 "the horrible things pot can do?" Are you fuc*ing kidding me? You must be a mormon or something to make such an ignorant comment :o/ I`m also guessing you or one of your family member are probably popping prozac and see nothing wrong with that

Why not? Half the country is stupid enough to vote for Barack Obama. Maybe getting them high will make them forget to vote.

Legalise it. In the UK the open policy is not to pursue moderate use. Something like smoking a spliff in a quiet part of the park or possession of a half ounce of hash would not bring charges because there is no way the DPP would green light a prosecution costing thousands for a certain conditional discharge and a bollocking for wasting time and money.

Large scale production and import is still actively pursued, but dealing the odd few ounces is only going to result in a finger-wagging.

Treat it like wine, regulate quality, collect tax, but leave room for artisans.

"This site" referring to the one being linked, not IAB.

@papajon0s1--you sure you`re not getting it confused with alcohol?

Put up all the data and arguments you want, you will never be able to undo what I`ve seen with my own eyes the horrible things pot can do. It will bring nothing but more pain, suffering, and death under the guise of doing such great things.

This site`s articles suck every time it comes up.

There are plenty of well thought out, legitimate arguments to make on this subject...and these aren`t them.

Reminds me of a simple song my band wrote...oh 10 years ago...the chorus went.

"A little green bud for me and you.
That`s all I wanted to do.
Take another toke until you turn blue.
A little green bud for me and you."

I like it the way it is. Easier to distribute.

@Andrew155 is correct: it`s too late to "legalize and tax" it.
20+ years ago? The cigarette companies would have EAGERLY embraced growing & distribution. It would make them billions!!
NOW there`s literally hundreds of thousands of "gro ops" across Canada and the USA, and they make TOP QUALITY pot!

Unless a way is found to buy pot from individual growers, THEN re-sell it (with taxes)? It`s just too late.

But legalize it anyhow! Stop SPENDING BILLIONS trying to "stop pot" ffs...

You`re definitely overselling the benefits of pot by thinking it`d make the economy boom and solve the deficit. Besides, if you tax it so heavily that it would bring in significant revenue, you`d just drive production and distribution underground, again.
