    But I`m here 2 tell u
    There`s something else
    The afterworld

A world of never ending happiness
U can always see the sun, day or night

So when u call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
U know the one - Dr Everything`ll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby.

    Dr. Everything is my savior!

You can`t see China, you know it exists. You can`t see the air, we know it exists. We can`t see light unless it reflects off an object, yet it exists. There are lots of things in life that are beyond our understanding, and that is fact.

@Agent00Smith: That is the weirdest ramblings I have seen in a long time. I don`t even know which side of the argument you`re advocating for?
Are the two statements even connected?
A: there are things we can`t see.
B: there are things that we don`t understand.

    Are you saying that A=B?

That`s really cute. So... what part of that implies that there is a God? You assume there are things we don`t know, there for every hypothesis, no matter how ancient and ludicrous it is, still holds water? I trust you add the same level of blind faith still stands when you talk about Zeus and his thunder bolts? Surely, being an equal amount of proof for both, it would be crazy for you to believe in one, blindly, and not the other.

Hmm, I don`t know if AgentSmith was arguing for the existence of God.

In fact I don`t know what he was implying at all...but I do know that it`s probably somewhere around 7pm on a Friday evening for him.

I do agree with his sentiment that there is plenty beyond our understanding...and even that within our understanding can be baffling.

Actually, I can see China. I can walk around in China, run down the street in China, get laid or arrested or elected to office in China. The existence of air is easily provable with 18th century technology. Light can not just be observed and measured but manipulated.

God, heaven, hell, angels, all that lot?

Fairy tales, with absolutely NO physical evidence. Just anecdotes, old books, and superstition.

    Where will I spend eternity?
Nowhere. I won`t exist. I will be gone, just a memory for a very few people. Harsh? Not really, just reality. But I am having a very lovely time while I`m here and not worrying about some boogey-man who`s gonna get me after my body rots.

    Dear theists,

The burden of proof is ALWAYS on the person(s) making an assertion or proposition. Shifting the burden of proof, "Argumentum ad Ignorantiam", is the fallacy of putting the burden of proof on the person who denies or questions the assertion being made. The source of fallacy is the assumption that something is true unless proven otherwise.

Sorry folks, that`s how it works. Then again, if you people had the ability to think logically, we wouldn`t be having this discussion in the first place.

"Its not make believe. Eternity is a long time. Id seriously think about where I was going to spend it. :)"
Exactly. Eternity is a long time, are you sure you want to spend it in heaven?
There`s no thirst or hunger in heaven, so you can`t eat or drink because gluttony is a sin.
There`s no procreation in heaven, so you can`t have sex because lust is a sin.
In heaven you will be with your family, which fcking sucks. Can you imagine spending eternity with your grandma? Spending just one afternoon is incredibly boring, what will eternity be?
You don`t have to work in heaven either, which would be a good thing except for sloth being a sin. WTF do you do then?

If there really is a God then I very much hope he`s kind enough to simply erase me from existence once I die. I don`t want to go to hell nor to heaven, I just want to disappear.

Yes I can. Here`s a photograph of china. It`s your turn to show me a photograph of heaven.

"You can`t see the air, we know it exists."

I can feel the air easily enough. I can`t see my teeth either yet I don`t doubt their existence one bit.

"We can`t see light unless it reflects off an object, yet it exists."
Yes, we can. Just stare directly into the sun. There`s no reflection whatsoever.

"There are lots of things in life that are beyond our understanding, and that is fact. "
True, but the ones you mentioned are perfectly understood by a 3 year old. If you mentioned something I can`t understand then it would be one thing, but you`re talking about incredibly obvious things that mankind has known for millennia.

Gervais is so unsure about atheism he needs to publicly dismiss theology at every waking moment on Twitter, it`s like he doesn`t fully understand the dichotomy and is reaching out for reassurance.

Here`s the thing: Believe what you want to believe, but don`t get angry at those who try to legitimately share what they believe with you. But to those sharing: don`t get offended when someone doesn`t doesn`t receive what your trying to say the way you want them to. I believe Penn Jillette said it best when he said, "If someone was standing in the middle of the street and you KNEW there was a bus coming that was going to run them over... how much do you have to hate that person to NOT tell them?" ... And that`s coming from an Atheist.

I don`t mind anyone sharing what they believe. I truly think it`s meant in kindness that they tell me about it. BUT - that does not mean I want the Southern Baptists to dictate the curriculum in public schools. I do not what science {evolution} thrown out in favor of mysticism {evolution} coughTEXAScough.

Teach your kids what you want, but you have no right to cram that down the throats of other peoples children.

Nah, most likely people send him e-mails about it and he replies with twitter. Which then prompts more e-mails to be sent and more twits to be made.

That`s not it at all. You see, like a growing number of us out there, we are fed up with the stupidity. We are fed up with the hate. We are fed up with the brainwashing. The only way to help stop the madness is to let others know they aren`t alone. It`s okay to not believe in fairy tales. It`s okay that you feel religion is insane. There are many of us out there and we are growing bigger in numbers every day.

Spreading the atheist message is not an indication of insecurity, or you`d have to concede that ministry is a demonstration of insecurity about god.

It`s not as creepy as private prayer either. No atheist, chants "there is no god, there is no god, there is no god" over and over in private to brainwash himself.

You can be an atheist and spread atheism, that`s fine. I am an atheist and would like to see rationality prevail over blind faith and ignorance. Gervais doesn`t spread rationality, he makes puerile jokes, and as seen here especially, brings the argument down to the base level of "God is like Santa", in his mind he`s just come up with another killer joke, he doesn`t see it as the brain fart it is .

Humans have lived with religion a very long time and many smarter men than him also believed in God (Einstein). To dismiss that with the ferver and disdain on the level that Gervais does smacks of him as more a celebrity riding a bandwagon than anyone wanting to inform or create any kind of meaningful discourse.

Einstein firmly and repeatedly denied any belief in a pesonal God.

`It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it`

    @Dr_Sexy,
While it`s true that those with higher IQs are more apt to be Atheists and those with low IQs are more apt to be highly religious, I don`t blame smart people when they are religious.

From the time you are a child, you are heavily brainwashed. You are told about Hell (the punishment for not believing). It comes at you on a daily basis especially when the brainwashing happens at school too. After a lifetime of this, it`s no wonder some folks are afraid to let go of it, even when every intelligent bone in their body tells them it`s not true.

The reason most Atheists are so vocal is because we can see how ludicrous it is. This isn`t something that`s questionable. it`s 100% not real and blatantly obvious when the veil of brainwashing is removed.

Oh good! There`s the Christian bashing I was waiting for! What`s true and what is not? I cannot prove God exists, but why is it true God does not exist? I was told I`d be burned in a firey death of global warming by now; it was absolutely certain or so said a few folks. How do you know you are not brainwashed into non-belief? Maybe, it`s not brainwashign at all. Maybe I choose to believe because I hope for something better than this life; and that`s my choice, no one made me do anything.

Papajon0s1 Thank you for your admittance. You believe because you hope for something better than this life. Too bad that reality doesn`t owe you anything. Your decision to believe (at least the one you`ve told us) is not based on rational thought.
Plus, don`t tell me you weren`t influenced. Had you never been told about any god, nor gone to school, maaybe you would look at the world and make up some supernatural explanation. But i bet you it doesn`t involve a jewish carpenter who is his own father and came down here to die because humanity was blamed for what a woman did 6000 years ago.
Also, global warming has nothing to do with religion. Only a certain political spectrum disagrees with science, but there are christians who know better.
And finally, if you can`t prove a positive, it`s only sane to go by the negative until the positive has evidence. If i believed in leprechauns you would laugh at me even though you can`t prove that they don`t exist since, well, magic is irr
