It seems to be lacking in any sensible safety harness.

Gerry- what happens if they faint, or get sweaty hands with fear, or cramp?

I was working an Octoberfest one year when we had one of these (MUCH smaller) and a little girl fell out and broke her arm. After that, I never went on one... much less one that was that high up! No friggin way.

Madduck: You can see an orange seatbelt at the bottom of his shirt. Plus there`s the bar and seat back, so I think you`d have a helluva time freeing yourself.

Well... A swing ride was opened in Stockholm back in April that was 400 ft high as well. And that one goes at 43 mph. So yeah. Better luck next time, Texas.

"what happens if they faint, or get sweaty hands with fear, or cramp"

Nothing, absolutely nothing (other than the act of fainting, sweating, or cramping). You are secured in the seat, you couldn`t get out of it if you tried.

"A swing ride was opened in Stockholm back in April that was 400 ft high as well."

Nope, that one is 397 feet. The headline claim is "World`s Highest Swing Ride" and it is, indeed, the world`s highest. Reading... you should try it.

@chalket: yes, and if you check the official website, you`ll see that it says that the Stockholm one is 400 ft. Checking sources, you should do it.

For those saying- if that bar is just the type that locks down onto your lap with a lap belt- they only work past a certain bodyweight- I have slid out of that set up once. They only lock to about a foot from the seat, and it did not have any effect on be at all- a slippery seat and I slid- held on like grim death - which was bad enough on a swing boat- but this! No Way...
