This doesn`t explain the perks of paranoia at all - it merely explains the evolutionary root of paranoid behaviour patterns. Just because a habit was advantageous tens or hundreds of thousands of years ago doesn`t mean it still necessarily confers an advantage now; just that it isn`t sufficiently disadvantageous to have been eliminated by natural selection.

Well, that was... 3:30 minutes long.

Ironically, the same guys that outed these conspiracies as BS are now saying that "it`s better safe than sorry" just because of a new video that says that maybe it`s an evolutionary positive. lol

so basically, as my Nan would say
"better safe than sorry"

which is a very boring way to live your life, but whatever.

Thanks @patchouly! There`s plenty of real life conspiracies without making up stupid ones, eh?

Major League Baseball DID conspire to keep "negros" out for decades!

The NFL did it for even longer! (Until 1967 iirc...)

Bill Clinton DID have sex with "that woman"! And that other woman too. And sexually assaulted those three... at least... not counting the hookers...

It was NOT a "vast right-wing conspiracy" after all, eh Hillary?

Just because you`re paranoid, that doesn`t mean they still aren`t out to get you.

I am both paranoid and over-confident.

I don`t often agree with 5Cats, but he is certainly correct here. It`s better to look at the evidence before assuming that a theory is nuts. While a tin foil hat IS often the end result, if you ignore everything, the odd real conspiracy slips though and that`s not good for anyone.

I know LOTS more! But most take forever to explain.

Those two are "open and shut" cases. They WERE officially covered up, for nearly a century! Critics who dared question the "official story" were attacked, berated and silenced. Eventually the evidence proved beyond ANY doubt what the truth was.

And it was -exactly- what the "conspiracy nuts" had claimed all along...

@carmium: USS Maine
"Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain!"
For a very long time it was "official" that Spain sank it, despite a distinct lack of evidence.

RMS Lusitania
For at least 80 years? The "official story" was that it was a civilian ship, sunk without warning in international waters. Britian may still officially say this to this day! The USA finally admitted that:
It WAS registered as an "armed merchant cruiser"
It WAS within 12 miles of the coast
It WAS carrying munitions (illegally)
That Germany knew all this, and had every right to sink her.

The civilians on her were being used by Winston Churchill and Britain as unwitting human shields...

5 Cats: I`d truly love to see your list of conspiracy theories proven real after decades of disbelief.

Yes!

Sure, MOST "conspiracy theories" are indeed WRONG!

But how many have been PROVEN to have been right? Often overcoming decades of disbelief?

It`s funny how fast "history forgets" when it was wrong, and tries to cover up all evidence even that it was ever wrong.

But that`s a different conspiracy entirely!

Remember The Maine! Y`all!
