@whodat6484 & peakingo So, what you`re saying is that the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln didn`t actually accomplish their mission and are therefore wholly undeserving of the honor paid to them by their commander-in-chief.

Does that about sum up your position?

This building is a big "you win" to the terrorists. Now they truly know how their actions have affected a nation, and I`ll wager they`re having a laugh. There should have been a commemorative wall, with two new buildings set in their place. That way, terrorists would have seen `business as usual`. What`s there now just screams a successful assault on the US.

It might not be the tallest building in America (as in USA). At least, it won`t be decided until November.

55% is already signed for lease not sure where the no ones moving in theory comes from. Pretty common for huge towers to be empty on opening look at the Empire State building.

But if you ask anyone around the world what "America" means, they`ll say the USA. You may not like it, but that`s how it is. The USA, as a country, is older than Canada...we got the name first. Officially, Canada is 145 years old, USA is 236 years old.

BTW: CN not considered a "building" so doesn`t qualify as the Western Hemisphere`s tallest building.

@whodat, you know what`s the funniest thing about OldOllies comment? It`s the fact that he`s still got such a massive hard-on for Bush that he`ll use the legacy and pride of soldiers as a means to intimate anyone who mocks Bush in this photo and more importantly the representation it`s come to take of his terms as President.

@OldOllie - No, I just like pissing you off! I fought in that war from Day 1 and kept fighting even after the "mission was accomplished" on May 1, 2003. I lost a few very good friends, one who literally died in my arms, while fighting a war that was supposedly over so I`ll say whatever the f*ck I want about it. Once you go ahead and do that then you can talk sh*t, until then...

I`m well aware of it. Sadly however, some "Americans" seem devoid of the knowledge that "America" refers to North and South America and encompasses more than just them. It`s cute that you`ve hijacked it and called it "common", but that doesn`t make it any more correct or relieve the ignorance.

As person living in NYC for nearly 10 years, I never though this damn building would ever be completed.

"Oh wait...did you guys forget that Canada is part of North America?"

"America" is the common vernacular for USA. Guess everyone but you knows that. When Neil Diamond sang "they`re comin` to America..." he wasn`t referring to Canada. Or when we sing "America the Beautiful". Or "God Bless America". You get my drift.

Will be interesting to see how they pass off the `controlled demolition` when this one develops problems.

Tallest building in America? I thought it was 1776 feet tall? The CN Tower is 1,815.4 feet tall.

Oh wait...did you guys forget that Canada is part of North America?

As for struggling to find people to occupy the damn thing, if all else fails I`m sure a Bangladeshi clothing manufacturer would happily move in for the right price.

@whodat6484 Does it make you feel like a big shot to piss in the faces of the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln in the hope that some if it will splash on Bush`s shoes?

It`s not done yet, fancylad. Remember, just because you say something`s done that doesn`t mean it`s actually done.
Well, it`s not really a good comparison, because adding the spire doesn`t make it twice as long.
It just reached it`s highest point of 1,776 feet. Took them long enough...12 years. I`ve heard that they`re having trouble with filling up the building with people who would actually want to work there. I know I wouldn`t.

It reached it`s total height, it is not `done`.
But still, a significant milemarker on the progress.
