Link: The Lonely Dodo - A video starring Stephen Fry, which tells the story of the last lonesome bird from Mauritius. Cute and sad.

It`s not too late for the Dodo.
Genetic science will bring the Dodo back.
But it won`t happen in the United States because we`re so stupid we banned cloning research.

    Thanks again GW.

    Excellent! Informative, entertaining, effective!

However, an NSFW for the "bird sex" eh? )-|

(Just kidding! In case that wasn`t obvious).

Quite cute, not all that sad...

    They could fly. Very well.
They would fly up a d sit on the ship railing, no fear of man.
Sailers could walk right up and pick them up. Thus the term stupid as a Dodo.

Tasty too since they were crock potted to extinction.

    I think that`s "dumb" as a Dodo.

I support the extinction of animals, so long as man isn`t the direct cause of extinction. But I also don`t support selective breeding (dogs and cattle), though find the subject extremely fascinating. For instance, I`d like to see all "pure bred" (inscest breds) dogs gone

Duckboy: I tend to agree with you... extinction is very much an essential part of the evolutionary process, but it`s sad when that extinction is due to humanity changing a species` environment. In the case of pure bred dogs, I also agree. For a while, those pure breds actually served purposes: hunting, pulling sleds, etc. But these days, with only a few exceptions, the pure bred dog serve no real purpose, and their inbred status only hurts their own health. Hybrid vigor!!

"...imagine you were the last of your kind..."

Actually that would be a good thing.
