@fuzzy: I made out "British Columbia" quite easily, but not nearly as much of the rest.

Answer: According to card-carrying linguistics professionals at an unnamed university in British Columbia, and contrary to the dubious claims of the uncited research, a simple, mechanical inversion of internal characters appears sufficient to confuse the everyday onlooker.

It`s called Typoglycemia. It means that people read via memorization, so as long as the correct amount of letters are present, and the first and last letters of the word are there, people can read the word just fine. It has nothing to do with intelligence.
