The symmetry of the fire was amazing. Just how does that happen naturally?

I got yer second bridge, Nickel2. We had an I-5 bridge collapse here in Northwest Washington yesterday.

    Hooray for obsolete infrastructure!

Too bad the government doesn`t use the money it has to fix this sort of stuff. The stimulus bill barely even addressed infrastructure, even though it was ostensibly proposed as an infrastructure bill.

My guess is it started with a grass fire under the bridge that spread quickly and ignited the wood which was treated with highly flammable creosote for waterproofing.

We had the exact same thing happen near here except the "bridge" crossed over a small ditch. It was only about 10` high and about 40` long, but it was made of creosote-treated wood, and it burned so hot, the firefighters couldn`t get close enough to reach it with their water hoses.

The track was closed for a month; then they replaced it with a 6` cast concrete pipe and filled around it with crushed rock.

The government doesn`t have any money. What they "have" is a NEGATIVE $17 trillion. Obama`s so-called "stimulus" didn`t even fix one stinking pothole. The entire $800 billion went entirely to government employee unions as payback for their support in the election. (If you know anyone else who got one penny of that money, I`d like to know his name.)

Burning timbers smell terrible. They are called timbers on bridges because they are much larger than ties.

@OldOllie: "If you know anyone else who got one penny of that money, I`d like to know his name."

Dr. Andre Alonso, Baltimore City Schools Chief.

A half million dollars of stimulus money that came to Maryland was spent on the two worst schools in Baltimore to try to get them up to standard.

Among those transactions were a $450-per-person office retreat at the downtown Hilton, during which the 16 employees of the Information Technology Department were also treated to a $500 dinner at Brazilian steakhouse Fogo de Chao; and a $264 lunch for students at Hooter`s. They also took a cruise around the Baltimores Inner Harbor "in recognition of the parents," yet no parents were invited. There were many more, can`t list them all.

"Overall, people use the program in exactly the way we thought they were going to," Alonso said in an interview. "There`s always going to be a margin where you give people flexibility, and they`re no

...and they`re not always going to use it in the way that you want."

Oh, and out of the $540,000 dollars that went to the school, all of it went to food, cruises, facelifts, gifts, Gucci clothes, and $2,413 on fried chicken. Lol, you don`t even want to know what we did with the Sandy relief funding.

One reason I love the federal government and the baltimore school system. It`s honest, always entertaining, and helping those that really need it...Government administrators.

Thanks rest of USA, we`re having a ball with your taxes over here.

@richanddead Still, I`ll wager that one way or the other, the lion`s share of that money went to benefit members of the Baltimore Teachers Union.
