That music is forty years old or better. I remember when, "Light My Fire" was used on T.V. to advertise the Opal. The poor man`s Vette, in 1966 or 67`.

contribution to good music will be missed. RIP Ray. Man, I wish I was religious, just so I could go to musical concerts in heaven...

I always felt that The Doors` music would have been more bearable had they don`t without the goofy sounding Keyboard.

RIP, Ray. I always wondered what he could have accomplished as a keyboard player if the Doors had had a bass player and he didn`t have to play all the bass parts with his left hand. (No, he did NOT use his feet.)

Whoa, different sh*t, Wakeman and Emerson are prog-rock. No doubt, Wakeman is fast guy #1 but Emerson (with the Nice) is incredible. Manzerak was solid!!!

cheers handyman! I never said you were wrong... and pianok, you`re right too, but I`d say Rick Wakeman in Yes and Keith Emerson in ELP were better... apples and oranges though. Ray Charles comes to mind too, but Ray Manzarek definitely made his mark in music. I`m vaked but trying to make sense...

Ray Manzarek WAS the sound behind Morrison. Kreiger wrote "Light My Fire" but Manzarek gave it life.

I was in LA in `81 and met Ray at the book release for Danny Sugarman`s "No One Here Gets Out Alive", the definitive Doors bio. Big ole me came stoned rambling behind him and laid a hand on his shoulder, he cringed at my forwardness, I told him, "Thanks for the years, Ray". He looked at me like jeez, godzilla didn`t kill me just then

IMIO although humble it may be, When they first played Riders On the Storm, that was some of the best keyboard work I had ever heard.

Well, you learn something new every day, but he was still the keyboardist.

@handyman0205: he played the bass for The Doors with his feet. McGovern was correct.

I care, and anybody who doesn`t, I don`t care that you don`t care. the doors were a huge part of my youth, as was Annette. He was the keyboardist McGovern, by the way.

Yes, fancylad, lets talk about how the users have no respect.

Even though I remember well enough you called a female user a whore some time ago because you were ******** and whining about people supposedly stealing content from this website, even though, as she correctly called you out on, you did the same.

But then I always figured you were a self centered little ****** anyway, so I shouldn`t be surprised.

By the way - I don`t care. You arrogant little toss pot.

Jim Morrison was "gifted" but Ray was "talented".

They both worked hard at their craft, but Ray had to work a bit harder than Jim...
Jim was "inspired" while Ray had to "perspire"...
