Krowley: Good `un! But this is Alaska, where fishing is big, and this could easily be someone who just shipped a load of aromatic fish in his pickup.

Did anyone else think of the movie "Birds" when they saw this?

that`s what you get when you leave a half dozen puppies in the back of the truck.

HAhahaha! Probably CodeJockey. It`s almost that way with the damn Canadian Geese and they were protected a few years ago.

5Cats: This year in January, Brackendale`s count was 804 eagles. B`dale is at the top of Howe Sound, north of Vancouver.

@carmium: he means "wellbeing" I think.

I`ve seen a lot of Bald Eagles at a garbage dump way up north. Near Matheson Island, Manitoba. About 25-30 or more, just chilling in the trees.

Yes, I have seen more eagles in one place! (Since you asked, Fancy.) Brackendale, BC; more eagles than anywhere in the States. It`s okay, though, you can still claim them as your national bird. (We don`t have one.)

Mr Orange: WTF is a "welbieng"?

"Are they still protected?"

Yep, and always will be considering their status as national bird.

I`d like to see them all over.

I have often. Go to any garbage dump or roadkill in most of Alaska.

"What was in the back of that truck? "

A carcass or other food garbage that would be nasty smelling. Bald eagles are the same opportunists as buzzards ravens crows etc.

I work in an office building right on the shores of the Mississippi in Wisconsin, and every year in March/April you can see dozens flying around looking for fish in the newly forming wholes in the ice. It`s pretty awesome.
