Not exactly. In the biological context, it`s referring to "reproductive fitness" or the ability of that organism to pass along its genetic material. This usually ends up being the ones best adapted to the situation in nature, but it`s much less applicable to people.

You obviously haven`t considered plastic surgery. FYI, silicone is not heritable.

your comment reeks of Social Darwinism.[/quote]
I believe in social Darwinism as an abstract concept, but I`m realistic enough to know that it doesn`t actually exist nor will it. We`re headed for Idiocracy, and there`s no stopping it.

I know it`s just a comic strip but `Survival of the Fittest` has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. `Fittest` merely means `best suited to the situation`

@Bakcagain21 agreed. My first girlfriend had bountiful bosoms that were natural. As much as I like my current partner she is lacking in that category. But that is why society has created plastic surgery to counter the trait (I wouldn`t want her to do it, just to mark the point before I`m attacked for it her body her decisions I prefer small and natural to big and fake but many men do not)

But leads us into the issue, we can use plastic surgery to overcome that natural selection. Who can overcome that trait easiest those who can get someone else who is rich and able to afford it like mummy and daddy`s trust fund.

Jesus, OldOllie...
your comment reeks of Social Darwinism. "Sewer rats", really?

Our evolution path is now based on different standards than just natural ones, such as social or societal standards.

@oldollie The family unit and our societal institutions have done more to stop natural selection than just the welfare state. There isn`t equal chance anymore. So people who would be too dumb to survive live off mommy and daddy aswell...

Dr Fineman from Emory has written some interesting things on Vulnerability theory. Majority complete hogwash. But she makes a point humans are vulnerable and dependant on our carers and societal institutions in youth, development and old age.

The modern welfare state has effectively repealed the law of natural selection. People who would have been too dumb to survive 10,000 years ago are now housed, fed, cared for, and paid to reproduce like sewer rats.
