What a beautiful little girl. Of all the terrible and sad things this world has ever known, the worst (IMO) is when a child is born ill. People are bastards but children are innocent. Stories like that are why I have completely abandon the idea of a "god who has a plan for us all". I won`t say there is or isn`t a god, but when some people say god has a plan or...this girl survived because it was gods will, I just don`t buy it. If that is how god works then god, and his master plan, can suck my (_)_)=====D.
Oops. I kinda took a detour with that tirade...back on topic. Beautiful little girl + good science + happy results = good post.

@tedgp, you must be stupid, stupid, stupid. He did no such thing.

#1, Bush chose not to fund embryonic stem cell research with taxpayer money. It had never been funded with taxpayer money so nothing changed. He just chose to continue the existing policy started by Bill Clinton. Not funding <> banning.

#2, this was not embryonic stem cells. This was stem cells harvested at birth, probably from the umbilical cord. No one has a problem with this and I think the government did fund this kind of research under Bush.

In fact, no treatment has ever been derived from embryonic stem cells, ever. "Adult" or umbilical stem cells, on the other hand, have proven extremely useful in cases like this. The only reason to even continue researching embryonic stem cells is to justify the homicide of millions of unborn, innocent babies. It`s sick, neo-Nazi, death-centered pseudo-medicine and should be banned.

Because it`s so much better to just destroy them when they are no longer needed for IVF. If I were one of those embryos, I`d want my very brief life to possibly make a difference, like my organs might when I die now.

That`s about the dumbest most stupid thing I`ve heard all week.
