"You can thank George W. Bush and his "Patriot"Act. The constitution has been outlawed."

We had it here on a smaller scale with the government introducing new terrorist laws which then got abused by local councils so they that could spy on the general public to find the serious criminals who were putting their recycling bins out on the wrong days, or snoop on them to see if they were sending their children to schoolsl outside of their catchment area.

And now because of the terror-related murder of one of our soldiers on the streets of London, our home secretary is trying to use the incident to push through even more laws that allow the state to retain EVERYONE`s internet traffic to be searched at will.

Of the three latest Obama scandals, this is the least offensive as far as the seriousness of the underlying crime, but it may be the most significant in terms of how it affects Obama. It may be that this is what opens the eyes of the MSM to the fact that Obama is nothing but a bumbling thug. Once they realize that, we MIGHT get some honest reporting on all the other far more serious scandals.

"Nobody cares because Obama is cool."

Actually, of all the "scandals" that have come out, this is the one that actually pisses me off. The problem is that the Republicans have no credibility on it. If they did, they might have worked to roll back the powers they gave the executive branch to actually do this kind of thing.

I`d respond to you, but Whodat6484 did a good enough job.

The reason I bring race into it is because I can`t imagine what makes people who were in such support of things Bush did be so angry when Obama does the SAME thing. What else is it if not for race?

Tea Party, FOX News, Limbaugh, McGovern1981 apparently.

There are TONS of things I have a problem with that Obama has done or not done. We just never get to talk about them because we`re too busy talking about F.UCKING UMBRELLAS.

No one cares except us old guys. I guess `cause we remember a different USA. But all things must change, stagnation is death. I guess I just don`t like what it grew into.

So, when media reports were made about 18-24 months ago that stated as confidential sources "high within the administration", who was it that *insisted* that the administration investigate and prosecute any and all responsible? If memory serves (and it does) it was the same ol`, loudmouthed Republican hawks always bitching about the Obama administration being "soft".

So, now, when we find that Justice did start investigating and that it used the Patriot Act to do so, those same windbag idiots are all up in arms about overreach and privacy concerns. Hypocrites, one and all.

Look, I`m all for repealing the Patriot Act. I think it`s a travesty. But let`s not pretend this is all or even mostly the Obama Administration. Both parties are complicit here, they`ve all known about this for months, and now they`re just making hay to try to get us as each other`s throats.

Meanwhile, the Democrats are feckless.

whodat, I think of the repubs as being the capricious party. Circa 2002 they were the "pro-war sacrifice civil liberties party", now they are the "civil liberties" party with even some isolationist tinge to them. And with immigration, suddenly they have changed their tune on that. They like to blow with which ever way the wind is blowing.

Correct. Really, the infrastructure for an authoritarian state more controlling than any before is already there. And facebook makes it exceedingly easy to sort out who is what.

"This is essentially how we know that the Dems were full of shiite in their criticisms of Bush"

It`s also how we know the Repubes were full of shiite for their praises of Dubya. At the time The Patriot act was signed they all loved it and thought it was exactly what was needed to keep the country safe. Now that it`s being used exactly the way it was meant to be used by someone they don`t like it`s suddenly an attack on our freedom.

C`mon now folks. It`s not like this is new crap. Do you really think those chips on your credit cards are for your protection? At anytime they can see where, when and what you bought. Same with cell phones. oh yea, it`s so you can keep track of your kids. BS.Only the old analog cell phones were untraceable. Why do you think they stopped making them? Cable and sattelite companies know what you are watching all the time. The camera in your laptop can be taken over to watch what you are doing. There is no privacy unless they tell you they are not watching your every move, and as soon as you test it. they are all over you like flies on $hite. Welcome to big brother. You are in his house now and the only way out is to live in the bush.

This is essentially how we know that the Dems were full of shiite in their criticisms of Bush. They just continued all of the shiite they criticized. And in many cases, they extended it.

And holygod, normally one shouldn`t resort to foul ad hominems, but you have got to shut the frack up. Everything you just said was a strawman. You will never admit anything he has done wrong. And if there is something you don`t like, you play it down. You are such a weirdo. And you then bring race into all of it out of nowhere? Who is the real bigot here?

Bush was a warmonger. Bush was incompetent. Big spender. Big Keynesian slime ball. A fair minded person would agree with these things, as well as agree that Obama is essentially the same thing, in addition to much more. You will never, though.

The way you know it`s a big deal is that it`s not just Fox news going after them anymore. It`s everyone but the most partisan of partisans. The funniest people are the ones who justify the IRS scandal....the scandal they apologized for.

Yes. They took completely legal action! I`m outraged this happened now that a black person is President!

Oh, or we could just repeal the patriot act that gave them this power. Who did that again? Was it that damn muslim socialist?
