How far North did you go? I`m in Canada and we still have them here.

Cicada = summer. They are synonymous in the South. The hotter it is the LOUDER they are. My mother-in-law likes to take the kids out hunting for the husks. They come back with a bag full of them >.< SO gross.

Cicadas are annoying. They sit in trees and make loud drating noises all day.

"I don`t really know what this insect is doing"

That`s because you`re a moron, fancylad. We already knew that, but thank you for confirming it. You rarely use your brain, so we didn`t expect you to start doing so now.

Well it`s that time for them to come out after 17 yrs of hiding on your bathroom tissue.
Hey 5cats. Do you still have all the Sailor Moon episodes? Time to grow up.

I was hiking in New Mexico last year when the cicadas were molting. It was pretty cool to watch them, actually. Like something from Alien.

We have tons of those down here. It`s gonna get really bad this summer because of the emergence.

In Georgia (hell the south in general) that`s how you know its summer time, the constant sound of cicada mating calls. LOL!! Hell, if you watch The Walking Dead you will recognize the sound, you can hear it in the background of almost every episode.

it is molting. It grows a new exoskeleton (you could call it a "shell" even though that isn`t technically correct) on the inside and sheds the old one on the outside every so often. You really don`t know that insects do that?

If you pull on the right front leg of one of those lil bastards, the whole head will come off.

How can you possibly not know what it is doing? It`s pretty obvious, ain`t it? Hell, the gif is straight from Wikipedia, for crying out loud.
