That`s why a single queue for multiple checkouts is the fastest possible way of getting through a queue.

The problem with that is that it psychologically doesn`t work.
If someone sees a queue of 10 people, they think it will take forever. If they see 3 queues, 3, 3, and 4, they think it will go faster, when it doesn`t.

They should have used an example of one of the fast food joints that has two order stations but only one delivery window.

All the banks I know of have had single queue, take-the-next-open-teller systems in place since the 70s. Are you telling me American banks don`t?!

this does not happen in Britain, as we just have the one queue that leads to multiple check outs.

A good lesson in patience. If he stayed in his original lane he would have been able to make it (just BEARLY hur dur), but he should have gone with his instinct and stuck with changing lanes and stayed there.

LOL! My husband always lets me choose the line, then he takes us to whatever other line is open. It always works as I ALWAYS choose the wrong line. Always. It does not work if I choose & then re-choose. We`ve tried it. We are kinda goofy.

Makes no sense. The one on the left of the screen was clearly the fastest teller, so why hesitate at all?
