Ooh a jab at Fords? My Ford has over 250,000 miles on it shows no signs of stopping... So, you know. Yeah.

I know a BMW mechanic who owns a Ford truck. It`s at the Ford dealer right now because even he does not want to work on it... Ha ha ha.

"I know a BMW mechanic who owns a Ford truck. It`s at the Ford dealer right now because even he does not want to work on it"

Alternatively as a mechanic he knows that it is a terrible idea to mess around with a vehicle if you only have general knowledge of how it works. Ford like many auto companies have a lot of very specialised parts and assemblies. Plus a "mechanic" doesn`t necessarily know how to do everything perfectly. There are guys who specialise in electrical, some who specialise in high tech or electrical etc. If your friend is a transmission specialist he won`t want to mess around with electrical work because that needs special training.

A good mechanic knows when to do it himself and when to ask for help.

Do like Fords had a few
old ones, Cortinas, Capris, Zodiacs, etc
iconic brand kinda like GM I guess
Aussies have a GM/Ford almost tribal ethic
and fights do break out on race days !!

Don`t punish the computer for the OS`s problem.

Before you pick up that hammer, use the real repair tool recommended by the pros:

@5cats Wow how long has that thing been sitting there?

@kilgore89 Nonsense, I`ve never taken a vehicle into a "professional" mechanic. I`ve done everything from transmission work, electrical, body work, and rebuilt entire motors.

@Ferdyfred I never did understand rivalries like that. I`m pretty much a fan of anything with wheels and an engine.

@Kegomatix: It`s been there since 1996, that pic is a few years old, actually. There`s 6-8 more bullet holes and an axe attack in the windscreen now (not joking).
It has "terminal" rust which is why it got parked in the first place. Some parts of it are excellent! Others? Missing :-O

I loved all my VWs! A Beetle, 3x Type 3s (Sedan, Fastback and Station Wagon!), 2 vans. I loved fixing them, driving them, freezing my arse off every winter!! Ever scrape ice off the INSIDE of your windows?

I only tease about Fords, some are crappy but others are excellent! Just like every other car maker.

I had an Aunt who put 300K miles on her first VW Van and 200K on her second one :-)

I had another Aunt who owned every crap-tastic Ford ever! She`d leave them in the ditch when they broke down!

@Kilgore89 I think you missed the point and I`m not sure why you put quotations around the word "mechanic". Technician... is that better?

I too am a BMW technician, that`s how I know him. We can handle anything a "Ford" tries to throw at us, we just don`t want to. He knew exactly what was needed to fix the vehicle. It requires lifting the body off the frame to do major engine work. Instead, he purchased an extended warranty and had some other sucker do the work. Turned out to be cheaper in the long run.

98se, 2k, 7 all great improvements functionally. 95, what a huge massive achievement. I mean really lots of people must have spent many a night sleeping on couches for that one.
