I stopped as soon as I heard the narrator`s voice. No matter how hard he tries, the voice doesn`t sound cool.

    Sigmund Freud was a perv.

Of course we`re afraid of the dark. Cavemen didn`t want eaten. Now you don`t want mugged/raped. Different predator, but the same rational fear. When it`s irrational it`s a problem, but healthy caution in the dark keeps you from tripping over the cat.

Well of course Freud would have linked darkness to separation anxiety; he had a nanny and his mother wasn`t his primary caregiver, his bonding with her had been disturbed. I think that it`s somewhat possible that much of Freud`s analysis enlightened us of his very own neuroses.

I`ve often found the opposite when in the dark, cozy beneath a cave of comforter; it feels very womblike...very reminiscent of the mother.

Also, night is a wonder haven for people afflicted by social anxiety or agoraphobia.

In my teens I could walk for hours at ease in the night. The concealment of darkness was a major comfort. I was only ever propositioned a couple of times so it`s kind of relieving to know that if I ever wanted to make a change in career, I probably wouldn`t be a very successful gay prostitute.

"I think that it`s somewhat possible that much of Freud`s analysis enlightened us of his very own neuroses. "

I`ve always felt that way. I think that Freud had some feelings he was hiding and he assumed that if he felt them and was hiding them, than others felt them were hiding them too. IMO, it was his own issues coming to the forefront.

I also agree with your second post. I used to walk around at night finding it quite and comforting. Granted, no one ever propositioned me, but I guess I can live with that.

    Spike had the answer:

Things that go `bump` in the night
Should not really give one a fright.
It`s the hole in each ear
    That lets in the fear,
That, and the absence of light!

here`s another one of my grand tales. the summer after high school, i spent a week up at an old buddies place further north in this small quiet town. one night we went out to a party. my buddy decided to stay there but i walked back to his place (i left some weed there i was intent on smoking). we walked there so i knew how to walk back. as we walked there we passed a cemetery my buddy pointed out as a shortcut. guess who took the short cut at 2 in the morning on a moonless night. i got very lost. it was so dark, there were lights here and there at the cemetery, but they were all so dim. it only took us an hour to walk from my buddys place to the party, i got back at his place at 3 30, i was walking around that cemetery for over an hour. and it was one of those old school creepy cemeteries with the really big angel headstones and everything. i smoked the biggest blunt when i got back.

I`ll spare you the super annoying voice of the video and wrap it up in what should have been a 5 sec video. "We are afraid of the dark because it is unknown, and the unknown is the root of all fear. Knowing whats in the dark makes it less scary."

The subtitle might as well read, "If you`re an adult, chances are, you were once a child."
