Submitted by: axelk 3 years ago

Hundreds of dolphins are killed in brutal hunts in Taiji, Japan. Those not killed are sold to marine parks. VERY GRAPHIC

@turdburglar "...seeing as there RARELY [is] such thing as a painless death." Next time read and think before you respond.

(I will not respond to personal attacks seeing as they bear no weight in this discussion.)

h2oxy - Don`t be stupid. Keep your doggy snuff films to your self. Also, how do you figure there is no such thing as a pain free death? Of course there is.

Something about the asian mind that equates pain and fear to flavour

Japanese stick to your perversions. Your cetacean killing ways are not welcome in the world. We need a moratorium that doesn`t require the Japanese to ratify it.

@turdburglar Aside from your condescending attitude ("which is the right way") I completely agree with you. But that begs the question, what qualifies as torture seeing as there rarely such thing as a painless death. In my opinion no torture occurred in this video. No one was acting sadistically during the slaughter of the dolphin. The men in the video were only trying to get a job done with the tools the had available to them, it was not at all what one would call torture.

If you want torture I can link you to a video of dogs having their skins pulled off them while they`re still alive, men beating down a baby calf with their fists or boys dousing a dog in gasoline and setting it on fire.

h2oxy - I probably should not have thrown in the sentient qualifier. I personally feel that all animals deserve a torture free death, when being killed by humans. That is how I live my life, but I won`t try to convince the world to think like I do. (which is the right way)

@turdburglar You`re right, dolphin most certainly are sentient. That`s pretty well agreed on. However, recent studies have also shown that crabs (yes, crabs) also demonstrate the possession of consciousness. So, does this change anything? Not really.

Gasp, people are killing animals for food, ohhhhh noooooo *sarcasm*.

Do you really think it`s any different when hunting elk? If it`s not dead when you get to it you finish it off with a knife. Hell, if this dolphin had been caught by an orca in the wild it would have suffered a much more drawn out painful death, the world is not the perfect place you imagine it to be, grow up.

Dolphins are very smart and most likely sentient animals, and therefore (IMO) they deserve a quick painless death. But...
This is not our country and not our culture, so I won`t bother to do anything about it. They can work it out for themselves.

Does it suck for the animal? Yes. It`s dying. The animal is being eaten (and therefore not wasted).
