Imagine how brutal it will be and how much "freedom" will be lost in fifty years?

Why do you need cuffs that can zap some one. He is already restrained. Its like beating a dead horse to make sure it keeps dead.

I see both ends of the cuff have a part labelled `420`.
Does this come under medication, sedative, irritant or paralytic?
Perhaps just `Damn fine substance`!

Cops are getting lazy if they need to abuse you via remote control after you`re already restrained.

I prefer the old ways. Duct tape rules.

I like the ides, but it just isn`t right to zap a restrained criminal. Cops already overuse tasers and pepper spray.

@katluver: You`ve been peeking at my "Christmas Wishlist"! :-D One size fits all...

Handcuffs with a "remote control shocker"? What could possibly go wrong?

Even if it gets cleared, how do you know that the prisoner isn`t diabetic, allergic, is already taking medication or drugs that may react badly with any of the sedatives/substances? How would they talk their way out of accidentally killing someone? A PSA on what`s in the cuffs and why you shouldn`t take the following because they are contraindicated? No doctor would administer a drug without knowing at least basic medical information about their patient.

To me, the problem with such a design is cost. Zip ties are cheap, flexible, easy to use and can be deployed to cuff several people in no time. And, oh, did I mention cheap?

Plus, if this thing malfunctioned and drugged or shocked a compliant detainee?

I agree, legally and logically this patent wouldn`t fly (not the part with injecting people anyway). The built-in taser is interesting and effective, so that may be able to be possible. But before this thing would see anything other concept art, it would need some modifications to make it real-world read and legal.

Just add fuzzy stuff and sell them on V-day for a mean profit! Oh, and they have to be painted pink. Pink, fuzzy deadly handcuffs for v-day!!

There are patents for all sorts of poo. This wouldn`t get used in law enforcement as it probably isn`t legal. Plus, you can`t just inject someone with random doses of medicine. You have to know their medical history first and calculate a dose that`s effective for their body size, etc. Not to mention, how does this thing know it`s injecting into a vein? is it just going to stab you and hope it turns out right?

Nah. Not scared.

Jeez- looks terrifying, but to be fair, I have seen people get floored by two burly officers once cuffed and I rather think they would be harmed less by a shot of thorazine LOL....
