While I have a beef with the US Military machine (i.e political bullsh*t), I have utmost respect for the Marines and the rest of those warriors - British Military included, as I`m a Brit myself.

It takes courage, and those men and women have it by the spades. Sure you get a bad apple now and again (like this wanker), but I`m sure he got chewed out by the Head Shed, if not sent the f*ck home after this fiasco.

@Cajun247 - Sleep disturbances, memory problems, and depression aren`t PTSD at it`s worst, they`re just minor symptoms. Depending on the severity, some will black out or go into a blind rage and have absolutely no recollection of what just happened. I`ve witnessed it first hand and it`s not pretty.

I was lucky and in my case that`s all I had before I went to see someone about it and it didn`t even start until I had been out for over a year. I had the insomnia, anxiety & depression, which was described to me as "Survivor Guilt." I caught it in the early stages and was able to work through it before it got out of hand. The problem is a lot of guys ignore it or write it off because they don`t want to look like a p*ssy and turn to drugs & alcohol to self-medicate, which makes it worse.

That`s not a Marine, that`s a Moron. Good riddance to him. Hope his enlistment is up real soon.

Cajun247- While I agree with you that this guy`s behavior is far more likely simple a$$holism than PTSD, your statement "At worst those conditions manifest themselves in the form of sleep disturbances, memory problems, and depression" is pure bullpoo. PTSD gets MUCH worse than what you described.

When it comes to this guy, "Semper fidelis mea asinus". If anyone says PTSD or "postcombat stress" I`m here to tell you bull5h17. At worst those conditions manifest themselves in the form of sleep disturbances, memory problems, and depression. In short this guy`s an ass.

AgentSmith

I can certainly understand gripes about how our military being utilized. But when you start insinuating "daddy issues" is when you reach borderline idiocy.

@chalket - No, you`re still off a little. There`s a big difference between being raised by a Marine (Semper Fi to you father, by the way) and being a Marine. Keep in mind, the Marine Corps is way different than when your father served. They do a very good job of weeding out people like this sh*tbird but there`s always one or two who slip through the cracks. I guarantee you he`ll be standing in front of his CO tomorrow (if he hasn`t already) and he`ll be losing a stripe, forfeiting some pay, and may even end up with a bad conduct discharge, which is just one step below a dishonorable discharge.

I know what you mean about the Army, they seem to be letting almost anyone in, that`s why they have so many problems. I`ve heard that from friends who are Army veterans. I know a guy who finished Army bootcamp, went to infantry school and then was shipped to Afghanistan immediately after 2 weeks of leave. Barely 4 months in, no experience, off to war you go!

point of fact, if the guy driving the truck was a 250 lb brick poo house, this scene doesn`t happen. PTSD or not, a bully is a bully.

PTSD is no joke. Just like the article said, its not an excuse, but an explanation. Any small event can blow up into a full blown conflict. I can`t help but feel a little bit of compassion for the guy outside the car.

Not a fan of joining any military branch. Rich politicians poorly set them up for death without any regard for it`s justification or long term effect.

With that said, I`ve met many military guys and gals from all branches that are:

jerks, sexists, emotionally vacant, wonderfully talented, loving, welcoming, intelligent, inspirational, criminal, dumb, artistic, mean, creative, gentle, lifesavers and murderers.

More on the story here. The passenger filming was the disabled female marine, the driver was her brother and care taker as she is paralyzed from the waist down. Also the road rager cut them off and repeatedly break checked them until he got a hit and the result is what you see in the video.

"With all due respect, you have no idea what the f*ck you`re talking about."

Unfortunately, I do. And you know it`s true. I never said "all", I never said "most". You can`t possibly deny that "way too many folks join the service just to learn to kill and have power over others." Not all, not most, just too many.

@whodat6484 "You clearly don`t know anything about Marines"
That may be true, but I was raised by one, my dad earned his Purple Heart on Peleliu. Certainly, my comment is pointed more at the Army than the Marines. Everyone in the military knows "the Army is the world`s largest baby-sitter" (or so my Army-lifer friend tells me). But at the same time, you have to admit that a big part of Marine training is to cultivate that exact gung-ho aggression we saw in this video. For some reason this guy didn`t let that "on & off like a light switch" training sink in quite enough.

Hmmmm you might be stupid enough... I bet you`re a piece of s##t punk that thinks he knows everything about everyone.

Stop making baseless assumptions, as usual you`re wrong. Although I was (and still am) against war in all its forms, I blamed the leaders not the soldiers. You see, in those days there was this fun little thing called the draft, so it`s not like those young men CHOSE to be baby-killers, right?

@chalket - You clearly don`t know anything about Marines. They always told us, "Don`t make an a$$ out of yourself in public, you`re disrespecting yourself & the Corps. Doesn`t matter how much good you do, people see one f*ck up and focus on that ignoring the good." Here`s a little lesson on Marines to educate the ignorant folks...

With all due respect, whodat6484, Agent00Smith`s only error was in the extreme generalization of saying "everyone". Much like the police force, the military tends to attract a high percentage of people just as he describes. Though far from "everyone," way too many folks join the service just to learn to kill and have power over others.

The majority of Marines don`t act like that, I know because I am one. After going through recruit training and SOI or MCT you learn to turn that sh*t on & off like a light switch. We`re constantly drilled on the fact that you don`t act like that because you look like an a$$ and you give the Corps a bad reputation. There are always a few bad apples, but sorry Agent00Smith, you`re wrong and you`re a douche. People like you who make those blanket statements are usually the guys that wanted to join the Marine Corps or another branch and couldn`t hack it so you feel the need to talk sh*t to feel better about yourself.

FYI, the reason for all the screaming and chaos in recruit training is pretty straight forward. It teaches you to maintain your composure, stay focused, and be able to function properly in a combat setting which is chaos.

Wow, kuddos to the driver who waited for police and didn`t crack even a smirk. That took control.

I am not sure I have enough in me to have sat there that still and quiet. Even if it were my fault, that dudes behavior would have gotten a chuckle out of me and that would have set him off more.

Agent00Smith: Making blanket remarks about "Everyone who joins the military" is beyond stupid. Please try using the words `every`, `always`, and `never` less often otherwise you set yourself up for an argument that you will loose.

Either way he`s going to feel like an idiot when he calms down. And he`ll probably face charges too.

Use this video to instruct others of what NOT to do! And the driver who did what he (she?) IS supposed to do! Stay calm, wait for help, video record.
