Submitted by: fancylad 4 years ago in

He wrote YOLO on a school test, put it on his Twitter account and got busted by school admins. I say good. I hate YOLO.

Good. Quit being stupid if you don`t want to be treated like you`re stupid.

It wasn`t about "YOLO", it was about the kid publishing a test question. Imagine if someone took a picture of an AP test page and did that during the exam.

On the matter of "OMGEEE that test is trash who cares?." Well... this test is the one which rates schools and teachers who end up getting blamed for poor student performance when the results come back thanks to answers like these.

That sounds about right. Economists are what you get when you teach calculus to social science majors.

See? Give your kid a name like "Kyron" and sooner or later there`ll be trouble.

More than just taking a picture, he had an iPad with him during a state test? and possibly internet access on hand (it`s not clear if he tweeted before or after the test)...it`s easy to see why that would be take seriously

I see soooooo much stupid going on here.

1st of all, an "on campus suspension" if you are on campus how can you be suspended? Suspension is NOT being allowed to go to school.

2nd - school is stupid for any kind of suspension in this case.

C: Time for a parenting moment. Teach your kid that even if it doesn`t make sense to him to do as his superiors tell him to do. In this case what the school tells him to. When he goes out to work he won`t last long sending in cute little YOLO tweets instead of the work he was bloody well told to do.

He should be punished for doing it but this might be excessive. If he had posted a page with actual questions and you could read them, that would be worthy. If you could read the text about the essay; what to write about, etc., then the punishment does fit. Even thought it`s an essay, it would give other students a head start, they could have something prepared before they take the test. I think that`s why he was punished, not because he wrote YOLO and a smiley on it. If he had zoomed in on that part where nothing else was shown, it would be really hard to punish him.

None of the commenters on the news site seem to realize that he is being punished for taking a picture of a standardized test, NOT for writing YOLO and refusing to take the test. Taking a picture of a standardized test and publishing it is cheating.

Yes, he was being stupid for writing that, but the punishment was an overreaction.

if the kid is supposed to be so smart, how did he not know taking a picture of a test, even with out any answers on it, would get him into trouble? there is smart and then there is street smart. zoey deschanels better acting sisters character in bones and sheldon would be eaten alive in the real world.

The kid has pluck, I really admire him for refusing to take a test that he felt wouldn`t benefit his academic merit...of course he could`ve refrained from using such an annoying abbreviation.
