    nature never ceases to amaze me. I`ve heard of ice needles forming but I`ve never heard of them becoming active. Very cool!

    Go google this subject this happened at a lake in Minnesota this year.

    That`s ice! Northern Freshwater Ice in the spring!
    Give the right conditions? Almost any lake & some rivers will produce this. Thick, winter ice is required though.

    It`s AMAZING to listen to! It sounds like a constant noise, but also has infinite variety within that noise! Best I can do to describe it. I`ve listed for an hour at a time before :-)
