What do you think? I still think the best logos are from the "70s. The new modern logos are all so generic.

@Draculya: Aah. Clearly Bill Gates is planning to move the MS corporate headquarters to the Shetland Islands in the near future.

Interesting how that flag is the exact inverse of the Finnish flag (one of my favorites).

FYI: In 1909 VolksWagen did not exist. Neither did Nazis...

Even if it were a car company that later became VolksWagen? Still no Nazis in 1909...

@Langer: I love that .gif! It simply cannot be an accident...

Interesting how the Windows logo has almost came full circle.

@auburnjunky - seriously. If Xerox is any indicator, 17991 years from now will be the same as 9 years ago.

@auburnjunky - Haha, I thought the same thing.

I would have also redesigned the Canon logo in the font from Back to the Future considering that it went back in time from 1953 to 1935 before coming to the present...

@Emmettyville: You`re right to find the early VW logo "funny": This poster has it wrong. VW didn`t exist in 1909. The company was founded in 1937 and the swastika-like logo was used for the first two years. In 1939, that logo was replaced by the `VW` within the large gear. Your observation led me to look it up; thanks.

the first apple one is cool, the first vw one looks very swastika ish, which is funny, considering who took over germany and made vw`s famous, and the windows one is practically the same as the first one, which is odd. And who knew cannon started with a k?

@MeGrendel: Exactly! Good to see I`m not the only one who thinks that. I can`t believe the logo ever made it past the focus groups.

Also: I still hold that the new Pepsi logo looks like the gap between a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants straining to cover a HUGE butt. How appropriate that the logo has morphed to reflect what`s happening to the consumer.

The Xerox logo looks awfully plain for 20004.

Interesting factoid about the Apple logo: According to the designer, the bite out of the apple was a necessary addition because without it, the mind doesn`t understand the scale and tends to interpret the shape as a cherry. (And the way the designer did the bite, it`s a nice echo of the leaf, too.)
