Can any I-A-Bers in the UK confirm or deny that this is the attitude on Margret Thatcher"s passing today?

@gladhatter: Sometimes, at IAB, when you hit "refresh" or "F5"? It reposts what you posted. Just delete it, or not, no worries!

Just don`t "Pull A @davymid" eh? 300+ reposts...

:-P (at @davymid!)
LOL! Okay, that was funny.
@patchouli: :-) I kept it clean, and hoped you`d like it! I WAS intended to be funny, not insulting, eh?
"Over the top" funny.

@Adcro: Yes, it`s true that the VAST majority, of any political stripes, have shown appropriate respect and regret at the passing of such a historic figure.
BUT that doesn`t sell newspapers, so the "lunatics" get all the publicity...

Sad, eh? Same goes on over here... everywhere really.

She had her moments but she was not as popular or much liked as is being portrayed in the media on the news of her death.

It`s an attitude, not THE attitude. But then again, brits are pretty damn stupid, so maybe it is.

Just wondering, by the way, would there be outrage if someone put up a site called isobamadeadyet.com? The Thatcher equivalent seems to have drawn yawns outside of the drive-by media.

Another thing. The conservatives in Canada also muzzled environmental scientists, because it might be bad for business, the freaking OIL business.
In what universe does that make sense???
What could they be hiding that might be bad? The truth. Our government is addicted to lies and arrogance. I hope someone assassinates harper.
Really, I`d have a party and bake a cake.

Patch, you can come. I`ll bring the weed.

`although disliked for the politics at the time, she had bigger balls and did a better job as Prime Minister than a lot of our recent ones have`

She`s still disliked for her politics. And her tenure as PM saw record unemployment and massive corruption scandals.

It is surprisingly being taken well. This is the socialist party`s response. I might go pick one of these up - they always have hilarious posters.

They are a bit mean the people that make these. Being rude to anyone who votes conservative. Its a strange thing to be happening in modern society.

No. I`m actually very pleased to see that for the most part, people are being respectful and not being mean about it, but I have no doubt that the nasty comments and jokes will come soon enough.

True, we may disagree with a lot she did, but she was a brave and powerful woman, and she pioneered a strong path for females in leadership roles in what was and still is somewhat a male dominated world, especially in terms of politics, and of course she was our first and currently only female Prime Minister.

To the haters: Don`t celebrate the death of an old lady who was also a mother and grandmother, and who although disliked for the politics at the time, she had bigger balls and did a better job as Prime Minister than a lot of our recent ones have, especially the current one!

Baroness Thatcher was and remains my heroine. She did more for my country than any PM since Sir Winston Churchill. I mourn her passing.

Britain was a country in decline when she came to power. she administered the required medicine which was difficult to swallow for some people but Britain was able to become a productive country again. Her belief was that a country should not spend more than it earns, is that so difficult to understand for socialists?

She was a person of principle and stuck to her guns.
She had the courage to shut down rust-bucket industries that were bleeding the country to death.
She had the bravery to remove unelected power from the unions who thought they ran the country and restore democracy.
The list of achievements is a long one.
Sadly in her third term she lost the plot; lost touch with the ever-changing opinion of the electorate and suffered the fate of all politicians: Redundancy.
But that`s democracy for you.

Her only good point was she was strong. Unlike the pussies we have had since (Major, Blair, Cameron). But, like all politicians, she was arrogant and that brought on her own downfall. She came from a working class background but set about destroying those same working class people.

I was 10 when she became PM
The country was in shat street
Ok she make mistakes but she gave the working class
a chance to buy their own homes
she fought the argies
and she ok with a few fatality`s ie miners
brought the UK back into wealth
fecked up on the poll tax
but she at least had the bollocks to do what she did
unlike the latter day limp wristed tossers we have now
RIP Maggie

So the "IAB Liberal Brigade" gave me static for pointing out a small error in Gabby Gifford`s speech, BUT they think pissing on Margret Thatcher`s corpse is "funny".

Typical. Just... typical.

Thank you @Gsmith8696 for your well reasoned opinion!
Cheers!

@patchouli: I shudder to think what you`re doing with your "unbound hand". It probably involves a "Obama Blow-Up Doll" though...

This is absolutely "typical" of the liberal left: Do as I say, -not- as I do.

@paddy215: "...the crew of the General Belgrano." O`Really? You DO recall that there was a WAR on at the time? That the Belgrano was a WARSHIP, armed to the teeth with guns and stuff? Right?
Also: Typical.

No, just one hand bound by spite. Spite over the ignorance of the Conservatives. Trust me, with an IQ of 160, my other hand is completely free of the bindings of ignorance.

a lot of hatred flying around, she was described as "evil" on national news...it was by an absolute c.nt, but still.

I think a lot of it is ill-informed and inherited though, she steered the UK through a very difficult time without too many lasting scars and gave us a more future-proof economy as well.

How long would the UK really be a big economy if it was still based on coal?

I think this may be the first time I`ve ever been happy to hear that someone is dead. Hopefully hell exists so she can suffer for all eternity. Firstly she can live as a miner who despite working hard his entire life can no longer support his family, then she can live as a black man in a South Africa with apartheid, then she can starve to death in the Maze, then she can get tortured by Pinochet, followed by watching her family get slaughtered in Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge, and finally she can drown with the crew of the General Belgrano.

Personally I`ve never experienced the death of such a divisive figure where people are as openly hostile. Obviously today it has been a hot topic of conversation and I`ve heard an equal amount of good and bad opinions. Mostly about the fact that she will receive a state funeral.

Personal opinion: A powerful woman who was a blinder of a female role model. As ex-PM she should be entitled to a state funeral. As for her policies and decisions I can can`t comment since I`m too young.
