This is really cool and all but what good is such a vulnerable platform? If the envelope (is that what it`s called?) is punctured, doesn`t that compromise the whole ship? And what about the giant fans required to keep it up and moving, aren`t they a massive target that, if compromised, would render the leviathan a sitting duck? Don`t propellers prove to be brittle? American snipers on a ship took out a bunch of pirates with head shots, how hard is it to rupture the envelope on this thing? Really neat-o, otherwise. Russia, you can be so likable, sometimes! I guess if you`ve got the element of surprise, this thing would definitely get a few, "HOLY DOG POO! LOOK AT THAT!...and we`re dead."

Well the rubber skirt is probably thicker than most tank hulls, it`s probably double hulled, maybe even triple hulled because Russia...There are enough guns on it to shoot anything that tries to get close to it and it can go anywhere it I suspect Gremlyn it`ll do just fine.

As stated in one of the posts earlier this week: This is Russia bitch!

I guess teh music is to cover the amazing racket this thing would make.. but as Atreides said - this is russian, this thing would have been stupidly overbuilt
Imagine the effect 10-20 of these things would have on a full beachhead :)

The rubber skirt is very thick and steel reinforced to stop it tearing. This means even a very big hole won`t cause it to catastrophically fail. There is plenty of reserve "airsupply" to compensate for some extra leakage through a puncture. Furthermore, the whole skirt is segmented (Those faint vertical lines you see) meaning one segment getting compromised does not affect the stability of the other segments.

"Shoot the skirt, it will sink..."

They`re still buoyant without the skirt, and as a military piece of kit they probably have a standard prop as a backup.
