This is some Russian testing their new army pistol.
It`s a very unorthodox design, but I hear it`s works very well.

Or it could be someone hunting eels to shove up their ass.

There are some pretty cool guns designed to shoot underwater. James Bond type stuff developed during the cold war.

The Russian special forces still have underwater guns in their inventory of gear.
    They are however rarely used.
I think the last time they were officially used was when they were carried by underwater guards protecting some political VIP on a ship.

I remember seeing someone fire a revolver underwater in Sea Hunt. According to Wikipedia, that show aired from 1958 to 1961.

I was snorkeling through a reef off the coast of maui and turned tight around a rock cliff to come face to face with a scuba diver with a spear gun. Most scared I`ve ever been in my life. Apparently he was hunting fresh fish for the restaurant at the hotel.

This is a good way to blow a few fingers off if the gun is cheaply built.
Notice the projectile sinking just under the "cloud" of smoke.

Bullets don`t travel very far in water, contrary to what the movies would like you to believe.

It`s a good way to blow out your eardrums regardless of how well built the gun is. Sound travels about 4.4 times faster in water than in air, making it much louder.

Huh? People in movies escape guys with guns by diving into water. They do it all the time.

Yes, but the bullets are shown whizzing by them through the water barely missing them, even when they are several feet down. In reality they would basically stop within 10 feet of the surface.

...underwater in Sea Hunt, that show aired from 1958 to 1961.
@OldOllie: But got a lot of airtime in syndication in the 70`s. I watched a lot of them!
I remember because I recently linked "Sea Hunt" in a discussion about homosexuality...

Have I wandered "off topic" again? I don`t think so...

PS: I vividly recall that episode!

@HolyGod: You mean 1-2 feet of the surface? Correct? No worries...
... I saw it on Sea Hunt!
