Good thing that it has changed.

I`m bipolar and glad I live in a world where I am not subjected to that sort of treatment.

Also don`t forget it was the precious Kenndy family that did it first to their daughter out of fear she`d embarass the family being promiscuious.Rosemary Kennedy.

Yeah, good thing it has changed. Now we voluntarily take medications so we`re nice and compliant sheeple. . .

I`d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I`ll have you know as someone who has worked in a spa for several years, people will pay good money for the first several examples in this video.

@CaptKangaroo: Yeah, I`ve seen the "banned film" from Russia where they show both "electro-shock" and "lobotomy" procedures done. Yup, bits of bloody brain were involved.

Therefor I cannot watch this.

Luckily (For @Geogypsy and @me!) mental health services have come a LONG way since WW2. The Quakers are to thank for that, they single handedly forced the USA to utterly reform their "asylums" which were little more than death camps... naked patients, syphilis, zero therapy...

Remember folks, they were using the best medical procedures available at the time. I`m fairly certain our techniques today will seem crude 100 years from now. Humans have always practiced medicine that way.

Yeah Squrlz, I found a lot of that torture difficult to watch too.

I`ll have to wait till they bring out a HD version without all that graininess.

They left out the `ol pre-frontal lobotomy, which often entailed going through the eye socket with a probe, either hot or electrified- good times.

Hmm, while plenty of this was freaky, hydro, swaddling and heat therapy seem kind of nice...I`m sure that I would have responded to that a lot better than the SSRI`s I was given in ward as a child which weren`t yet tested in children (and were found to, in some cases, increases impulse, depression and suicide in youth).
