Wow leave it to a former Brit to be that f**king dumb about weapons. A shotgun is aimed explosions while targeted go in every direction in a large area.

"Absence of Evidence"
= LOLZ!

This isn`t a courtroom, the Feds don`t have to explain the evidence yet, so they don`t!

Did they explain ALL the evidence while chasing OJ in the White Truck? NOPE!

I`m fairly confident they caught the right guy here. Now as for the rest of it? Only time will tell.

Huh have you even paid attention to any of this or are you blind?

WMD personal vs. country one is under ATF laws the other UN and probably Geneva convention. You`re over analyzing.

You`re all stopping at the use of the word WMD and missing the fact that he is additionally charged with `using and conspiring to use an improvised explosive device resulting in death` and `malicious destruction of property by means of an explosive device resulting in death`.

I think they really need to watch how they use the term WMD since it does seem to vary radically but the other charges are definitely appropriate.

As for evidence @shaustin they`ll release what they need to as the time goes on. Sorry but they can`t release every little detail as it is still an ongoing investigation. As far as not speaking a single word goes...
while it`s true he cannot literally speak right now the latest news is that he has communicated to authorities that his brother was the mastermind and that they acted alone.

Has he said (or written) that they placed the bombs for reasons x,y,z yet? It doesn`t make sense that they`d do it but leave no indication of what their aim was, and hope they wouldn`t be found.

Also, like @davymid I too did not get the memo on WMDs and am now really confused we invaded a country that didn`t even have any pressure cookers.

`Terrorism` is defined as `anything that the government does not like`. Hence `narco-terrorists` (smugglers) etc. DUI can kill multiple people, hence drunk drivers are terrorists. Texting has been shown to impair drivers as much as driving with a blood-alcohol limit over the legal limit, hence those texting while in charge of a vehicle are terrorists.

Yes, it`s bull. My point in all this is beware any loosely worded broad category of crime because it`s other people that make the definition. Before you know it, you will have ceded all your rights and given the president the right to wage war without congress

A double barrelled shotgun is capable of killing multiple targets. Hence it is a WMD. We need to ban all WMDs and materials that can easily be turned into WMDs. Hence pressure cookers, all small metal objects, especially ball bearings and nails, fertiliser, aluminium and flammable liquids, gasses and Mexican food with a high legume content will be banned with immediate effect.

Obviously a sore subject here. American law has become so perverted through paranoia. We`re a knee-jerk country still not far enough from the tree we originally climbed down from. Change will only come when we evolve as a species to communicate instead of escalate. Gonna be a loooong wait.

i find it funny that no one seems to care about the absence of evidence, and the fact than neither suspect was allowed to speak a single word, just because the word "terrorism" is thrown out...
You don`t think it may have something to do with the bees nest that Bush kicked while he was in office?
@patchouli: You mean the same one that began and flourished under Clinton? The one Clinton had the chance to confront several times but chose to let things slide?

I suppose.

Do you hold Bush responsible for 9/11? Or Al Qaeda? Honest question.

How about the Iran vs Iraq war? And the invasion of Kuwait? All the USA`s fault? Specifically the Republicans alone?

I see where you were going now. Sorry, I`m a little slow today.

Wait a f*cking minute. When did the definition of WMD change? Did I miss the memo? When we were told Saddam had WMDs, and therefore we should invade the f*cking country, I was of the firm impression that WMDs were deadly nuclear and/or biological f*cking warheads that could reach Europe and the US.

Now a WMD is some blackpowder and nails in a pressure cooker?

A WMD is any weapon designed to take out multiple targets. A land mine or anti-personnel mine is a WMD. And nerve gas & pressure cooker bombs. Now you know, it`s okay when we use them, just not when the enemy does.

As I recall it, the alleged WMDs were biological and chemical agents in portable production trailers.
But you`re quite right: More people have been killed in a single careless driving accident than died in Boston, yet no one has ever mentioned using a car as a WMD. They terminology is far too broad in meaning.

The way the Iraq war was sold was that the WMD`s were `Nucular`.

IMHO there should be a better distinction between a device that is capable of leveling a city and one that could kill or injure a crowd.

"Before anyone repeats the stupidity of their Republican representatives, a naturalized citizen can not be charged as an enemy combatant."

Naturalized citizens can have their citizenship revoked, then recharged.

There`s a way around everything.

"Ok, I`m confused. So are we saying there was nothing equivalent to a pressure cooker bomb in Iraq, or have we dumbed down the definition of WMD?"

No need to invade Chechnya, Russia`s been doing a great job of keeping a lid on them for years.

That`s right, hipster Russia was mired in Islamic jihad before it was cool.

"ffs man, live up to your words and BE non-partisan!"

I am being non-partisan. The push by Republican Senators to label him as an enemy combatant was on all three of the news sites that I go to including the lead story on FoxNews.com. It was stupidity front and center. Just happened to be a Republican this time not Democrat.

So, let`s see; A couple of guys from Chechnya- here legally, committed a terrorist act. I guess this means we`ll be invading Bulgaria? Poland? I mean come on, we have to invade SOMEbody that had nothing to do with this, right?

It sort of makes you regret the 8th amendment. What he deserves would be 10 lashes a day, every day, for the rest of his life.

For Ghod`s sake @markust: The first words out of the mouths of Democrats were "home grown right wing terrorist!" Instantly parroted by the MSM.

NOW it`s "Oh I don`t think religion had anything to do with it..." from the Democrats and MSM alike.

But the Repubs and FAUXNEWS are the hyper-political ones...

ffs man, live up to your words and BE non-partisan!

Also: The "He`s Been Framed" conspiracies begin! :-P

I`m hoping that he gets life in prison, and not the death penalty. This way, he should have a cell mate who will turn him into his b!tch.

`The death penalty will simply turn him into a martyr.`

They`re considered martyrs to a cause no matter what, might as well get him out of the way.

This story is getting milked to high heaven though, drating rolling news.

Don`t forget to charge him with Hit And Run. He backed over his brother in the stolen SUV when he escaped the police.

And Littering. Yeah, that bomb left a lot of debris.

And trespassing. He didn`t have permission to hid in that boat.

And... You get my point. I don`t believe the death penalty is Just so I want him locked away for life. Hell, charge him with Sexual Harassment, I`ll testify against him. My word against his - who`s a jury gonna believe?

It`s a federal charge right now skypirate. mass have yet to add on their own charge which strangely would take precedence. They may even not press charges and let the feds handle it.
