I kind of feel like their *has* to be more to this story. If not? I would support a civil suit to award this couple a TON o`cash becasuse, if it`s as they claim, this is outrageous.

It is because they removed the child from the first hospital while he was still receiving supevision, without a discharge or clearance telling them it was safe to do so.

yet, in other situations it is ok for parents to let their child die because something as simple as a blood transfusion is against their religion.

Right, but they did take the baby directly to another hospital, which CPS knew. The other doctor said the baby was fine. This whole situation is complete overkill and a complete waste of resources. This country really is turning into a Communist country.

Wait, if I am reading the title and subtitle right, the cops wanted a second opinion for their son?

Another reason why the Second Amendment is so important. When they can come take YOUR kids for NO reason... Step through my door, there will be bloodshed.

First off the title is misleading as the cops didn`t `barge` in. They were there at the request of CPS. Doesn`t make it right what CPS did but don`t blame the cops for doing their job.

How many times have people complained CPC did nothing? If a hospital makes a complaint they HAVE to act. Sue the hospital. Leaving without a discharge is not a criminal offense. It`s just their admin policy. You are not required to fill out their paperwork and you can leave any time you like. It`s just polite to do it.

Sad thing is, if they Sue (which they should) it will be taxpayers who pay the bill. Meanwhile these jerk drats will all still have a job. Their unions will protect them.

Yes, they did. CPS does not have the legal authority to enter the house and take the kid or to ask the cops to do the same without a warrant or a court order. The parents have an excellent case against the cops AND CPS. I hope they get several $million -- enough to bring this to the attention of at the state legislature. If they sue, I guarantee you those Nazi bastards would not want me on the jury.

TiredofNicks - nice IASIP reference there.

The US is a police state. There is no reasoning with the cops, even though they have "discretion." A cop in this situation isn`t allowed to disagree with the people at CPS, even if they know from balls to bone that these parents are not in any way neglecting the child. It`s unfortunate, but I hope CPS gets sued, even though it will most likely only result in other kids who need their services feeling the negative impacts of this case, either through services received too late or not at all. Poor parents.

This is what happens when you have for profit hospitals.
Hospital one says ..your child needs heart surgery... I leave this hospital with MY child go to another hospital to get second opinion....first hospital calls CPS ....bring that money pit back to us .... Cps says ok because they have to act on accusations ( thats what they do )

and now Mom and Dad will probably bankrupt themselves just trying to get their child back. Then CPS will say that Mom and Dad can`t provide a healthy safe environment for the child and will take him, again.
Of all the legitimate CPS claims I ever made none were acted upon. Seems they just weren`t dumb enough.

    @OldOllie

Ummmmmm no, they didn`t. The cops would not have done a thing had CPS not gone thru the time and effort to obtain said warrant and hence the police`s assistance. Again, blame CPS, not the cops. They can sue the police department til they`re blue in the face, it was not an action the cops initiated.

About 18 years ago, I went through something not quite as dramatic, with my first child. The morons at Navy Hospital Camp Pendleton, would not listen to me, when I told them that my little girl was not gaining weight, that she was projectile vomiting her milk. I snatched a look at her medical record, while the "doc" was out of the room. Her record said, "Baby gaining weight normally." I took out a pen, and wrote, "This is a lie. My baby has lost weight."

Guess what happened? My baby`s health record mysteriously disappeared. I could not get an appointment to see a real doctor. Finally, I took her into the emergency room, with a story about her swallowing beads. Really, I made that up, because the sons of bitches would not take care of my baby. She was so thin, and I was so frightened that should woulddie. They left us alone in an exam room for more than an hour, and then tried to send us home.

Then, as she cried, and I tried to nurse her, a corpsman came in, and tried to leave. I said, "You are not leaving!" Finally, a doctor came in, and suddenly, things started happening. My little girl spent a week in the hospital, but honestly, only the help of an old civilian nurse helped me and my baby. She tried various techniques and remedies, anything to get the baby to stop projectile vomiting, and when my baby came home, I had to call Mead Johnson myself, to figure out how to mix a special formula to supplement the breast milk, so that my baby would not die.

Oh, and after my little darling was home, and actually gained a pound or so, I got a visit from some kind of child protection agency. WTF? After I had been begging and jumping through hoops, trying to get those military asswipers to help me with my sick child>?
