I think this comes from people driving with two feet and getting them mixed up. You should only ever use one foot with an automatic car, and on standard your left is only ever clutch.

Curious to know if she lived, cause that looks like all sorts of dead. Just the height could do it, let alone the going head first.

I`d like to add that she also taught me the importance of properly sealing the oil cap on a car after changing the oil.

Specifically saying, "only idiots who want to ruin their cars forget to do it."

You`re such an idiot.

Yes, my father taught my sister, but my mother did as well. Currently my sister has taught her daughter and son as a single mother the importance of car maintenance.

In fact, my mother taught me how to do the following:

Build my own PC
Change my motor from a stock 1600 cc to a 1776 cc motor on my VW Beetle
How to drive a manual
How to change my oil
How to fix timing issues
How to Repair a garbage disposal
How to repair a television when you could still buy parts at Radioshack
The importance of NEVER using fix-a-flat and maintaining proper tire pressure and tread.

You do realize these skills aren`t gender based, they`re learned.

To clarify, incompetence that is generally viewed as gender based is from an outdated ideal that daughters are to be raised as "princesses" that require the assistance of a man.

Not the case.
It has to do with upbringing. Some fathers raise their daughters to be reliant on men while other don`t and teach them how to be self reliant.
And yet it still takes a FATHER to teach his daughter to be self reliant?

My grew up in a big car culture house and if there`s one thing can say @OldOllie is gender has absolutely nothing to do with proper car knowledge.

It has to do with upbringing. Some fathers raise their daughters to be reliant on men while other don`t and teach them how to be self reliant.

Once I left the oil cap to my `55 Chevy on top of the intake manifold. When I took off, it rolled back under the carburetor linkage and jammed the throttle wide open. I shut off the ignition, pulled over and stopped the car, got out, opened the hood, put the oil cap back on, and drove away.

That`s why I`m glad I`m a man. Had I been a woman, I certainly would have died.

A women who works for the same company as my dad ended up with something wedged in the gas pedal thing/area that made the gas pedal stick. Toyota recalled a bunch of carpets since people were claiming they jam.

Recently in my area, we had a woman crash through a set of gates, tear down a loading ramp, run the length of a ferry, and plunge into 120` of water. It`s still not clear if she was simply convinced she had her foot on the brake.
Every driver should be taught the following: Your car CANNOT accelerate by you pushing on the brake. There is no mechanical failure that will cause such a thing to happen. If your car seems to be doing just that, take your feet off the pedals, look down and watch as you step on the brake.
