@OldOllie you`re going to look pretty dumb in a few days time when it turns out to be a white yank.

If it`s indeed a muslim who was responsible, I will offer you and you prejudiced views an unreserved apology.

So, HUNDREDS of identical bombings by radical Islamic terrorists using the EXACT same type of device doesn`t count as "evidence?" What does count, a signed confession? You`d probably claim it was obtained under harsh interrogation and wouldn`t accept that, either.

@OldOllie I`m glad you`re not on the investigation team (or any team with an iota of responsibility). You made up your mind with no evidence, and it sounds like you`re actually hoping that it was muslims. That line of reasoning is so dangerous, it is actually worse for the country.

@FP No, he`s not a bigot because he accuses white people; he accuses white people because he`s a bigot.

I accuse Muslims because they`ve done this EXACT same thing hundreds of times all over the world.

Is that too much for your tiny little brain to grasp?

"And there you have the perfect example of a bigot. Notice how he cites 3 wholly dissimilar events from the past 20 YEARS to try to put the blame on white Americans, yet he completely ignores HUNDREDS of IDENTICAL bombings carried out by Muslim terrorists throughout the world."

In other words, he`s a bigot because he accuses white people. You`re not a bigot, because MUSLIMS. The Saudi national has been cleared of any wrongdoing. It`s still too soon to speculate.

@OldOllie

He`s made his hatred for the US pretty clear numerous times before. Being from the UK I`d say he considers what we call a patriot an extremist cause they whooped his ancestors sorry asses long ago.
Although there is no evidence to support it, I am starting to find news editorials that suggest it was the work of American terrorists to be credible.

Considering recent history (Waco, Oklahoma City, Columbine, etc.) and especially if this turns out to be the work of another domestic nutcase, You may as well rename this holiday `Extremists Day`.
Just tell me who is responsible, so I can hate their nationality. (if it was an American I already know what to do...blame politics)
The usa should ask other countries that had to deal with sever terror attacks how to handle it properly without the whole country going hysteric. france for example, they had a lot of attacks, especially in the 80s and 90s.
Said the man not living in the country. I`m not seeing hysteria. As for the surrender defense nah I think we`re all set with that strategy.

...continued

The blast and debris went more or less straight up, indicating that the device went off away from the back wall. Debris didn`t seem to be particularly directional. Predominance of leg injuries and low mortality supports this placement and indicates the device was not elevated. It also suggests that it was not a suicide-bomber, possibly a wireless or timer detonated device in a portable package on the ground.

Such an attack could easily have been carried out by a single party.

The fact that it took place in Boston on Patriot`s Day may or may not mean anything. I would think it means more to Americans than it would to Muslims.

It`s too early to point fingers, but I don`t think it has the hallmarks of an organised network of a jihadist terror-cell.

When I first saw the video of the first explosion last night, my immediate impression was that it wasn`t a high-explosive.

There was lots of flame and smoke and seems less of a percussion than even ANFO. In fact, it looks to me like muzzle-loading black powder or Tannerite. It wasn`t a big blast either. I would guess it was no larger than a day-sack, including shrapnel.

"A Saudi national has been arrested. Once again Islam proves that it is incompatible with civilization."

It now turns out that Saudi was running from the blast and some policeman decided that he looked dangerously un-American.

Once again, America* proves that it is prejudiced.

*Not all of America, only its basest elements.

Definately not a time for politics. Anyone who brings politics or religion into the scene while killing civilians and unassociated people is simply a madman, not a martyr or a representative of any cause beyond that of insanity.

@markust

Agreed. There`s no reason to get political about it at this point. Everyone just needs to come together and work thru the events as they unfold. We`ve done it before we will do it again!

"I`d like to get a little political but it can wait. I hope and wish the best for all the victims."

That is how to be patriotic. Times like this remind Americans that we are all Americans - not some stupid party or ideology. I was afraid to come in here because of what I would read in the comments but I was pleasantly surprised at the goodness being demonstrated. I apologize for thinking the worst. My heart goes out to the families of the dead and to the wounded. What a stupid senseless target. A marathon brings the world together. In a marathon we are all one.

OMG. I`ve just had to collect myself for about three minutes. I don`t know if you saw it--I don`t know if you *want* to see it--but the man with the cowboy hat is actually holding (and pinching closed) the femoral artery of the man in the wheelchair. OMG.
