I wish I could say I`m surprised that so much of today`s population, including our president, are more than willing to throw away our God given constitutional rights into the toilet for a fake feeling of safety.

These two assh*les killed and injured more people without firing a gun on Monday, than Adam Lanza did in Newtown.

You can`t stop psychos from committing crimes without turning the country into a communist police state and even then a determined terrorist(s) could still wreak havoc occasionally.

I wish I could say I`m surprised that a thread that started out as celebratory turned into some idiotic way to compare pressure cookers with guns.

@lauriloo

If the people of Minnesota are happy with their laws then good for them (gotta love federalism). Even then when it comes to violent crime the state should still prove why such ex-felons should not be allowed to carry a gun.

"So all this system does is punish people for something deep in the past which they are likely not to commit again."

Different states have different laws. In MN, most of the people who fail a background check committed a crime of violence, including domestic abuse and stalking. In many non-violent cases, like drugs, if three years elapse without another disqualifying offense, a person becomes re-eligible to own a gun.

MN people not eligible to own guns

"If grenades were outlawed, only outlaws would have grenades." Just pointing out the absurdity of this argument.

Let me clarify; if criminals are going to ignore laws, what`s the point of ANY law?

Secondly, it is indeed EXTREMELY shortsighted to limit everyone`s legal right to firepower if it doesn`t result in an overall decrease in violent crime. Because all you manage to do is make your citizens more vulnerable to maniacs. One more thing another massacre occured six years later, and another 9 years after that

@QueenZira

I don`t contend how two faced Republicans can be. But let`s consider the logic behind background checks. If it were true that all ex cons were inherently dangerous then it would make sense to prevent them from buying guns. On the other hand it would make more sense to keep them locked up. The reality is that most people who were blocked from buying guns were people weren`t convicted of a crime against the person (assault, rape, homicide etc.). So all this system does is punish people for something deep in the past which they are likely not to commit again.

I`ve always regarded marathons as a waste of time; annoying requests for sponsorship, tying up traffic and air-time while sweaty show-offs pound the streets in silly costumes. Bah.

I was wrong. Sometimes it takes homicidal dickheads to remind bitter cynics like me that decent people putting themselves through the wringer to help others is what makes humanity tolerable.

Tomorrow is the London Marathon and for the first time ever I`ll watch it.

Whatever fear, hatred, suspicion or alienation these wankers hoped to achieve, let`s ensure they achieved the opposite.

"Oh, and how about we call for a ban on pressure cookers?"

If pressure cookers were specifically made for making bombs, like guns are specifically made to shoot bullets, then I would agree with that.

"Lesson: We wouldn`t need any of these agencies if we just armed everyone."

Wow, you must have flunked your logic class. Did you hurt yourself when you stretched to that absurd conclusion? Yeah, instead of law enforcement professionals, let`s have everyone run around terrified, shooting everyone they think *might* have done something wrong. Great plan. Better be a caucasian in THAT world.

Yeah we didn`t need law enforcement looking for these guys. I mean hell, the internet sleuths had it tied up from the beginning right?

It`s funny that despite millions of dollars spent on 4 agencies (FBI, SWAT, ATF and police officers) it took one resident dialing 911 to locate this douche bag. It`s like the underwear bomber: despite the millions of dollars spent on the TSA it took one brave passenger to stop him. Lesson: We wouldn`t need any of these agencies if we just armed everyone.

Baked Beans for everyone!

Just kidding.

And to think, if everyone in Boston had a pressure cooker, this whole thing could have been avoided.

...just adding to the nonsense

@CrakrJak: Notice how different that is from Muslims "celebrating" 9/11?

I KNOW you do! ;-) But the IAB Liberal Brigade? Naw, they have NO CLUE...

Your pic took a while to pop up!

So I read: "And then I`m in jail" and I think "WTF?" Has @kitten9 gotten into the catnip AGAIN?
Then up pops the pic! :-) My biggest laugh of the day!

Since we`re apparently merging this with gun control and all. Jon Stewart makes a point about "Legislating Evil," every gun nut needs to hear.

"Hey man lemme ask you a question, do your doors have locks on them?"

Go check out the following segment with John Oliver for some more good follow up.

And yeah Paperduck you`re right, the Feds can seek the death penalty because Terrorism is a capital offense.

wow apparently the owner of the boat noticed blood on the cover of the boat after he left his house when the curfew was lifted, he opened it and saw the bloodied body and informed police.

Guy is lucky that he`s alive.. you don`t go lifting up the cover of your boat if it has blood on it..

Since viewing those photos of the aftermath of the bombs, my stomach has been in a knot--and it is only now beginning to unwind. I am SO GLAD they got them. Thank God. I`m hoping I can sleep more or less normally tonight.

Kudos to the FBI, ATF, and state and local law enforcement.

Now I`m hoping that this younger one, who seems to have been a follower under the influence of his older brother, decides to confess and spills all the details of the plot. That just might shut Alex Jones and a lot of other conspiracy theorists up. (Then again, probably not: You can`t cure terminal stupidity. They`d say Suspect #2 was drugged and hypnotized.)

Plug that into Maps to look at the boat! May need Google History apparently, Bing works perfect.

He`s alive! But bloodied. :-)

I HATE that the news is calling him "a teen" now! FFS! He`s a MAN! An ADULT! He isn`t 13 any more. He`s fully responsible for his actions unless a Judge says otherwise.

They caught the bastard. I`m glad they caught him, rather than kill him. Let him face the full force of justice - I`m also glad Massachusetts doesn`t have the death penalty. I`d rather see him rot in prison for the rest of his days, thinking every day about what he did, than give him the easy way out, that he himself apparently decided was a fitting end to a lot of other human beings.
